I am unfortunately a huge fan of the cheesy trope of accidentally switching clothes and I think it would happen at least once with their jerseys when they both play on the Centaurs.

Scott barked out a laugh. It sounded hysterical even to his own ears. “You’re kidding.”

“About the fetish? Is real, is called gerontophilia. I learned it just for you,”

Truly the funniest HR fic I've found and yet somehow still a heartwarming read! Expands on the very fun dynamic between Scott and Ilya in canon in a way that doesn't entirely suspend disbelief.

Absolutely losing it:

Then Ilya spoke again. “I will talk to you in three hours. Hold on, try to not die before. I know at your age you can't promise anything, but try to live.”

Scott frowned, checking the time automatically. “What? It’s almost midnight.”

“I know, don’t go towards light if you see it,” Ilya said.

“Why three-”

The line went dead, and Scott was left staring at his phone.

And on the less humourous side:

Scott frowned. “Probably one of the guys,” he said, already moving toward the hallway. “Someone got drunk, or is getting divorced, or got a girl pregnant. It will be a moment, stay here, yeah?”

Kip nodded and slipped into the bedroom without question. They were good at that, Scott thought bitterly. Good at being quiet, careful, and hiding.

truly playing in the sandbox but I do think hetswap Hollanov could be insane both ways. In canon they are ultimately equals and that creates an interesting dynamic of back and forth! It's great! But god the bitterness and resentment you could drag out of that being made unequal - one of them having fought so much harder to get to the same opportunities, facing so much more external pressure even as the years go on and they've more than proven themselves... Still finding each other and struggling immensely with how unfair a relationship would ultimately be under that context...

When we are speaking of the Hollanov song, I must humbly put forth Sunlight by Hozier which reminds me of them every time I hear it. With the overall motif of light across the entire show, it's really just stuck in my head.

Pondering a possession AU where maybe some kids are fooling around with a Ouija board or some similar supernatural things during juniors and Shane catches... Something. At first, it's just strange uncomfortable dreams where his memories are laid bare. His hidden desires, his shame regarding his girlfriend, his secret resentments, and of course, the dream of a worthy opponent. As if in answer, he starts dreaming of a man named Ilya. A man who isn't real.
