End of the Year Surveys
The time has come...
For the end of the year compliance surveys.
Every team is asked to fill out a packet full of pages that asks each athlete to rate their experience in each area: the head coach, the assistant coaches, the strength coaches, the equipment staff, the sports information directors, the athletic training staff and the nutrition staff.
This survey gives athletes a chance to voice their opinions on each area anonymously.
These surveys are then given to the athletic directors that go over each one at their retreat over the summer.
Without these surveys, the athletic directors would have a hard time finding out the things that the program can improve on.
I think this is a great way for athletes to feel comfortable voicing their opinions, both good and bad. I also think it’s great that the athletic department takes the feedback they get seriously...
But I’m not 100% confident that all the changes that the athletes ask for will be made, but I hope they are taken into consideration.
When the Head Athletic Director, Shane Lyons, came to WVU, he asked the administration who the customers were.
The Administration answered with “the donors” or “the fans”.
“Our customers are the athletes,” Lyons said.
Lyons wants the athletes to be comfortbale speaking up for what they believe is right because he can’t change what he doesn’t know about.
The athletic department’s goal is to create the best experience for every athlete and is willing to do whatever it takes to get there.
