little bit of shape worldbuilding:
shapes are partial shape shifters, as well as partial size-shifters, it's pretty limited and depends on the individual in question.
their height does depend on the amount of energy available in their energy reserves- for the most part this is a gradual thing, though in some individuals' cases, like the player shapes, they remain the same size until a certain threshold is met, upon which they sorta explode in height. there is a maximum and minimum amount of height though this again does depend on the individual.
Shape physical changes are dependent on the individual, though there are some common types of changes:
Unconscious changes (normally a response to the shapes mental/emotional state)
Conscious Changes (things that a shape consciously decides to change about them, some shapes describe these sort of changes 'like switching a light switch on and off')
do keep in mind, changes can be both types, but this is sort of just a outline.
Fresh/Boss when startled, stressed, or pissed will grow spikes, this is an unconscious change
Sticking with Fresh/Boss, his claws are mostly a conscious shift, while they will sometimes shift in alongside his spikes.
Post-corrupted Cube's clamps and other energy constructs are a unconscious change for the most part, they don't really know how to control them, having never needed to learn how to control shifting like that bc of their condition.
Barracuda normally keeps their mouth sealed so they don't start biting people on reflex (being hideously and VERY lethally venomous does that) this is a conscious change.
