These are some of my early story sketches for Jed The Flying Head (pre art school) circa 2008. Looking at them now, there seems no logical reason for the removal of Jed's head within this sequence. The comic book version I was developing last year had Jed's decapitation take place as an accident when a shattered window drops (think, the ending of Ghost).
In the newest version, being developed for storyboard/animation, we remove Jed from his paltry laboratory and set him up in the grandeur of a European castle, where he has been invited as an "honored guest." For you Sherlock Holmes fans out there, think Reichenbach Falls (the original, and not the updated--and completely awesome--BBC translation to modern times).
