Prosecutor Ju saying he loathes and hates Chaeha while actively kissing him is in my top 10 best moments in toxic yaoi, like damn... his rage and lust for Chaeha is so in sync

the immediate default panic that HE'S causing Chaeha to be in danger or miserable is so layered and engaging to me. this is a man who never really got over the fact that he was in the house when his father died and couldn't do anything to save him, so he's internalised that and refused to get close to anyone or trust anyone for his entire life up to this point outside of a very select few people.

even when they find out his mentor might be involved he's like "yeah i'm prepared for that eventuality, anyway-"

but it's clear that part of that detachment is also an irrational fear that his very PRESENCE is dangerous to those around him - probably not helped by the death of one of his only other friends. he's deeply anxious and self-hating which i recognise because i have a similar default panic position of "my presence alone caused this bad thing to happen" that rears its head in times of trouble. he even admits to chaeha that he's anxious which is something i don't think we've seen him do since the third episode inside his own internal monologue.

he's desperate for connection with the one person who might understand but he's also terrified of getting too close and losing him. he feels like a jinx, which is only made manifest once chaeha finds out who he is and walks away, and then (judging by the teaser) gets put into danger AGAIN.
