aceattober day 9: case
farewell my turnabout 🐚
i think one of my favorite parts about the Farewell, My Turnabout case is the inherent irony in it.
Matt destroyed his career by trying to save it. There was no need to kill Juan, but he couldn't see that, and so he did. As a wise old turtle once said, "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it".
The suicide note, while fake, would still have made quite a stir if there was someone like Juan who could confirm it, but it wouldn't seal Matt's career, far from it.
Let's take it one by one;
Matt being a player, while bad, is very common. The "innocent and kind" image would take a hell of a hit, yeah, but there is a clear way out of it. Matt could have pretended he didn't know and state that he would never make someone feel used and thrown out on purpose, or this being out could have opened a possibility for a little rebrand, as well.
Matt going to Juan to say something about him and Celeste on the day of the wedding announcement is also quite bad and would come under scrutiny, however, Matt could play the "refreshing like a spring breeze" card here again. He could've just said that he simply wanted Juan to know, as it was eating him up after the announcement, since they were rivals and all.
As for Celeste ending her life... Matt could have said he had no idea she would do that. After all, she was formerly Matt's manager, and seemed like a very strong person, so it wouldn't be strange to assume Matt had no way to predict that was going to happen.
His career would certainly take a hit and it would be spread in the news, as Adrian feared, like wildfire, but he could've come back from this very strongly, playing into people's sympathy and the fact that 'he himself confessed, and he felt bad about it!', and it could have potentially opened a new rebrand opportunity after, if Matt wanted to drop the "innocent and kind" image to be more his actual self.
Juan would have taken a punch from this as well, being the one who broke off their engagement, too.
Matt could have pulled a "luigi wins by doing nothing", but instead he decided murder would be better. Matt isn't a "pretends to be dumb but is actually smart", he's "pretends to be incompetent but is actually dumb" lol
All and all, Celeste deserved so much better than these losers.
Another set of holiday requests! Got two Omori ones in a row, haha.

Matt Engarde doodles cuz I hate him
Last one was meant to be more simple but I got carried away
hmm
Matt engarde sucks and all but it is pretty funny to think about the fact he was like. 17-21 ?? when everything took place. Him and celeste being involved before celeste and juan, which was before she committed suicide, which was when matt and juan were 19. Then two years later the trial happens like wow this lowkey was teen drama I'm sorry to say
