Considering moving your career towards a judicial or quasi-judicial role?
Judicial reasoning, adjudicatory skills and an appreciation of the modern setting within which decisions are taken and justice is administered are all integral aspects of our Diploma in Litigation Management Skills. This new diploma from the Diploma Centre will provide participants the space to reflect on and develop the competencies required to act in a judicial or quasi-judicial role in an informed and collegiate environment.
At its core, this diploma is designed to equip solicitors with the proficiencies and aptitudes required to act as judges, adjudicators or chairpersons. The breadth of competencies required for such roles is truly expansive, from a basic understanding of Court management, rules of evidence and the role and procedures applicable to the various forms of alternative dispute resolution procedures. In addition, a module will address the skills required to ensure the judge/adjudicator responds appropriately to cultural diversity and acts with suitable sensitivity and skill when dealing with vulnerable witnesses, so as to ensure fairness and impartiality when administering justice. The course will provide a space to consider other core issues that perhaps are not so regularly reflected upon in more procedural orientated training, such as the skills required when drafting written judgments and ensuring independence and accountability.
The course will also be of interest to those who, while not necessarily currently contemplating a judicial or quasi-judicial role, nonetheless are engaged in high profile litigation and leadership roles who would benefit from reflecting on the skill-set required when acting in this capacity.
This course will be provided on a blended learning basis which provides maximum flexibility for attendees. Lectures can be viewed online or attended onsite. Onsite workshops will be more interactive and facilitated by senior practitioners and members of the judiciary and this opportunity for peer-to-peer learning will maximise the learning opportunity for attendees.
