I've got a bunch of weird ones queued up on my Beamafilm account next (free w a library card 🙌) so maybe I'll post a poll asking which I should watch first... Failing that, come hell or high water, I AM watching The Return (2024) this March

9. Tell a story about your childhood

This one took me foreveeer for some reason... I just kept thinking of depressing ones bgshdfhjkl 😭 BUT I do have a nice one from when I was 5 years old :) Thank u for yr patience!

We went on a class excursion to the cinema to watch Finding Nemo 🐠 I begged my parents not to sign the permission slip bc I was TERRIFIED of the dark at that age (& for quite a while after) but they didn't want me missing out on what all the other kids were up to, so off I went. They did, however, tell my teacher about this & to keep an eye on me in case I idk exploded of fear or similar.

Well, when we walked into the cinema theatre, she handed me a little torch she had brought with her & told me I could have it on for as long as I wanted while the film played! She also sat me in the back row of our group so the light wouldn't bother the other kids :)

I'm sure I had that torch on half the time, staring at my shoes. I spent the other half staring at the green EXIT sign, which my parents told me never turns off in case I got scared. I also remember mentally calling down curses on my parents & teacher during the anglerfish scene AND the submarine chase scene — truly horrific shit to put 5yo me through — but I made it through the film in one piece ^_^ & am now no longer afraid of the dark!
