When he was considering retiring, he spoke with those close to him to get to the root of the problem. He needed to feel competitive again and to do so he needed the best bike on the grid.
His closest circle is his family, two/three friends, Jose Luis Martinez and his agent. He talks to them about deciding but it's

His most difficult decision in his sporting career is to leave Honda.
He felt that it was exposing Honda because it was like saying that he was not winning because of the bike.
When he negotiated with Ducati and said that he wasn't going to PRAMAC, he literally said about that: When you say a words you have to be ready to die with them. Marc made it clear in every meeting, either official Ducati or Gresini, they're his only choices.
He says that Gigi chose him because of his results in the last races at that time. "In sport you live in the present, not in marketing or history"
He doesn't know exactly why Ducati chose him, when they tell him he doesn't ask why, he just says okay let's go.
Gigi is the one who tells him that he has been chosen.
When he was chosen he felt that he had to work (more) so that they felt that they hadn't made a mistake.
He has spent half his life in world championships, he's 30 and entered at 15, he says that he has matured and made mistakes and has grown exposed to the media, to comments, to pressure, etc.
He hasn't spoken about the Ducati issue with Jorge Martin, but he has about other things. They have a professional relationship, they are rivals.
Before starting a season Marc puts all the teams on the same level as rivals
He is superstitious. He has to have the same colour underwear on Friday and Saturday (blue) and red on Sunday. All this comes from the fact that when he was a child when he improved laps in training he had a blue helmet on his bike and when he took pole position he had a red helmet.
He talks about how at Gresisini he has found the perfect environment to find himself and recover. It's a family and passionate team. He had an honest relationship with them, making clear at all times what his intention was. And he says that staying in Gresini was always a very viable option.
He doesn't doubt that he has the best bike and adds that the only thing missing is for the rider to be good
He doesn't consider himself the favourite. And he isn't the best rider at the moment either. He says that the reference within Ducati is Pecco for his last championships and victories.
He is a Barça fan and a radical fan of Messi.
He says that young athletes have to be protected by their environment, when a young athlete's ego goes through the roof, his close environment has to bring him down to reality
He says that his ego didn't get too high and that if it did, his environment would bring it down quickly
He and his brother haven't had any problems with getting carried away or believing themselves to be more because they have always remembered where they come from and have kept their environment
Before, when there were fewer races, after the race he would have dinner with his people and they would watch the race on a projector

He wasn't very much in favour of having a museum but the Cervera Town Hall contacted him and as long as they managed it, it was fine
Right now he is not considering retirement
Feeling competitive in order to obtain good results is the motivation of the day to day
VALENTINO ROSSI. Marc doesn't think he has him in his sights. He says that they have to be very careful with their words when they talk about each other. Marc isn't interested in any war right now. He is an active rider who is in the championship. Marc doesn't think Rossi is looking for a fight with him. And if he is looking for a fight with Marc he isn't going to find it. “Two don't fight if one doesn't want to” And Marc doesn't want to now.
He is loved in the circuits off the track and not on the track. On the track, says Marc, you have to be selfish. And he will only have a little compassion with someone, with Alex.
