At Lord Marchmain's death bed, both Julia and Charles realise that the pull of her faith is too strong for Julia and she chooses it over her love for Charles. Happiness was never on the cards.

I have been doing this scene by scene rewatch of Brideshead for ever and it's taken me months to summon the will to do this scene, it absolutely breaks my heart, the whole tragedy of it. 💔💔😭😭
