By the year 2925, the Eurovision Song Contest had evolved into the Interstellar Song Contest and was being hosted on the space station Harmony. 21st century hosts were part of the program as Graham Norton had been turned into a hologram, and Rylan Clark had been cryogenically frozen. The time traveling alien known as the Doctor (15th regeneration Ncuti Gatwa) and his companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) arrived there as his time and space machine The TARDIS continued to refuse to return to Earth on May 24, 2025. Terrorists lead by the Kid (Freddie Fox) from the planet Hellia arrived to seek revenge on the corporate sponsor of the contest who had effectively destroyed their planet. To start with, they ejected the live audience of 100,000 people (including the Doctor, the TARDIS, and the mysterious Mrs Flood, who was played by Anita Dobson) into space. Then, while airing the practice footage across the galaxy so no one knew something was up, the terrorists prepared a Delta Wave to kill the trillions of viewers. The Doctor also learned that according to this timeline, the Earth was destroyed on May 24, 2025. To further complicate things, he started seeing visions of his granddaughter Susan Foreman, who he hadn't seen in the regular series since his 5th regeneration (Peter Davison "The Five Doctors" 1983). The episode also revealed that Mrs Flood was actually the renegade Time Lord the Rani.
