@hughstheforcelou kindly requested that I gush about Julien Fawley and here is the results. thank you so much for asking about my qudditch obsessed hufflepuff. There is a read more because I got carried away. 

Julien is truly the light to balance out Rue’s heavy and dark story.

His wand is redwood, dragon heartstring core. Redwood wands are popular because they bring good fortune to their owner; the wands themselves aren’t lucky but they are drawn to wizards who always manage to fall on their feet and make the most out of a bad situation. Dragon heartstring wands have the power to produce the most showy of spells.

Julien’s greatest love of his life is flying and related, quidditch. His favorite aunt gifted toddler Julien a small broom and he has been obsessed ever since. His favorite team is the Montrose Magpies. His favorite position is Keeper, but he starts off as a Chaser for Hufflepuff in Year 2.

He sucks at studying anything that isn’t Quidditch stats. Julien is one of those people who is almost infuriatingly lucky when it comes to passing. He doesn’t study but can get by. Except for Potions. He is terrible at Potions. He and Snape mutually dislike each other. It’s by Rue and Tracy’s efforts that he manages to get an Acceptable on his OWLs. 

Julien is incredibly friendly and can talk to anyone and wants to talk to everyone. In year 1, he notices how Rue often sits alone and he believes everyone deserves a friend and makes it his mission to become Rue’s friend. He earns her friendship because he never treats her, or Harry, any differently. He grew up hearing stories about the Potters because his father had played James in Quidditch when they went to Hogwarts and also he been part of the Order. The Potters were always just family friends, not mythical heros, in Julien’s mind.

He’s an only child, but has always wanted siblings. Cedric Diggory becomes a big brother figure for Julien. Julien was nervous as a first year, being away from his parents for the first time. But Cedric was very kind and showed him the secret to get to the kitchens. 

In year 4, Julien starts crushing on Harry and its a little agonizing to see Harry crush on Cho. But Julien is a loyal friend first and does his best to a be wingman to help Harry worked up the confidence to ask Cho out. Julien ends up going to the Yule Ball with a very cute boy from Beauxbatons. 

Julien tells Rue about his crush on her brother first because he values his friendship with Rue so much and doesn’t want to make things weird. Rue is surprised (but just cause she’s basically oblivious to regular teenage relationships) but very supportive. She thinks Harry and Julien are the best people in her life and that they would make each other happy, and that is what she dearly wants for both of them. 

Julien adores the Burrow a lot. The first time he visits is during the summer before fourth year. Harry and Rue are staying with the Fawleys and Julien’s parents allow them all to visit the Burrow as much as they want. It’s Julien’s favorite summer because it’s near constant Quidditch games with Harry and the Weasley boys and they all get to go to the World Cup. Also Mrs Weasley teaches him knitting spells and he starts making hats for the people in his life as Christmas gifts. 

Year 5 is a rough year for Julien and his arc parallels Harry’s and they grow close. Cedric’s death hits hard and Julien refuses to say that it was an accident, meaning he is in constant conflict with Umbridge. The bloodquills have a strong effect on Julien. 

Year 6 gets better. Julien makes Captain of the Hufflepuff Team and there is new romantic tension between him and the new Gryffindor Captain, Harry. And he doesn’t have to take Potions any more. And he drops DADA as soon as he hears Snape is the new professor. Cause fuck that. He doesn’t need DADA to be a quidditch player. And he will just let Harry tutor him if he wants to learn any new defense spells.

Hi! I dig the copper trio, can you tell me more about their dynamic? And how'd they all become friends?

Hello! Yes! I would love to talk about this iconic trio (sorry for the late response!) The answer got really long so it’s under the cut!

The trio starts with a friendship between Rue and Julien. Julien is Rue’s first human friend at Hogwarts (Rue’s first friend is technically the Grey Lady because Rue alienates herself from her house by refusing to answer questions about Harry). 

As a Hufflepuff in the same year, Rue and Julien share classes, but they don’t really get to know each other until the first flying lesson. It’s a disaster for Rue. She can’t get the broom to do anything she says and when she finally tries to fly, she nearly falls. Julien, tho, is already an excellent flier and happens to be standing by her. He helps her through the lesson and keeps her from falling or getting hurt. He’s incredibly gracious and doesn’t mock or tease her for her lack of skills. But Rue is still embarrassed, defensive, and reserved, so it takes a couple more interactions for them to officially become friends. Julien starts sitting next to her in class and they partner together. He talks with her about magic, answers her questions about the wizarding world, and he never asks about Harry being the ‘Chosen One.’ Julien treats Rue and Harry like normal kids. Even after they start hanging out outside of class, it takes Rue a while to realize Julien is her friend and only really accepts it after Julien calls Rue his friend. So it’s a bit of a slow process over the first year, but Julien becomes one of few people Rue would do anything for and Julien just adores her. 

The trio doesn’t officially form until their second year. Tracey and Rue become friends much quicker than Rue and Julien now that Rue has some more confidence after a year of Julien’s friends (and admittedly Rue writes to diary Tom who gives her advice on making more friends and encourages her to make a Slytherin friend). Rue sneaks around the dungeons second year and Tracey notices and wants to know what’s up. Which leads to Tracey trying to find out and when she does, it cements their friendship. Tracey is looked down upon in Slytherin for being a half blood, so she understands what it’s like to be alienated from you own house. Tracey and Rue bond over being more studious and Rue is the first person Tracey ever tells her true ambitions. She wants to become the youngest Minister of Magic. Any friend of Rue’s is a friend of Julien’s, so Julien and Tracey easily become friends as well. Rue and Julien are determined to help Tracey reach her goals.

The best way I can describe their dynamic is Tracey is the mind (truly the strategist and schemer), Julien is the heart and soul who keeps them grounded, and Rue is the hands (the protector, the best spellcaster, and the one who executes Tracey’s plans).

I want to know everything for both Rue and Julien, and I know it will take you awhile so I apologize in advance, but all the HP questions for my bbs!

Rue 1.What is their blood status (pureblood, muggleborn, etc)? What are their thoughts on the concept of blood status? Half-blood who doesn’t believe in the concept of blood status. Rue thinks blood doesn’t have anything to do with magic. If she had to say where she thinks magic comes from, she thinks its more of a power that is connected to the soul or to one’s will. 2. What is their wand wood and core? Vine wood, phoenix feather core, ten inches, slightly yielding. 3. Do they bring a pet to Hogwarts with them? No. Harry and Rue picked out Hedwig together (since one owl was all that Hagrid could afford as a gift). While Rue is fond of the owl, Hedwig is certainly Harry’s familiar. But Rue discovers her own familiar after a young Niffler sneaks into her bag after a fourth year Care of Magical Creatures lesson and refuses to leave Rue. She names him Professor Puck and he’s a little menace and she loves him. 4. What Hogwarts house were they sorted into? Why did the hat put them in that house over the others? Was it a quick sorting or a hatstall? Are they happy with their sorting? What Hogwarts house would they least fit into? Ravenclaw because of Rue’s deep curiosity and love for magic, her respect for intellect, and her desire to create/invent. She was nearly a hatstall because the Hat wanted to place her in Slytherin for her ambition, self-preservation, and resourcefulness; however she fought with it and convinced him Ravenclaw would suit her better. Rue was pleased to have won the debate and was sorted into Ravenclaw. Initially she wanted to be sorted in Gryffindor just so she could stay with Harry, but that’s the house that suits her least. 5. What subject is their favorite at Hogwarts? Which is their least favorite? Is their favorite the same as their best subject? Transfiguration is Rue’s favorite subject (partially because she deeply respects McGonagall and also because she is really gifted at it). Her least favorite was Astronomy first year because she wasn’t fond of heights. Even though she never takes Divination, she does not like it at all. She doesn’t believe in fate and despises the concept of prophecy. She adores magic and views it as a force of will and chooses to believe more in the individual and in choice over ‘fate.’ Rue’s best subjects are Transfiguration and Potions because she had to study them closely to become an Animagus. Charms is up there as well since Professor Flitwick adores Rue. 6. What electives do they chose in third year? Care of Magical Creatures (because Julien asks her to take it with him and she can’t say no to him) and Study of Ancient Runes because she thinks it’s a fascinating class (and Tom recommends it) 7. Do they earn more house points or do they lose more? Earn because Rue does very well in her classes (McGonagall and Flitwick in particular reward her with a lot of points in class). Rue doesn’t loose points because she is breaks the rules, she only does it when she knows she won’t be caught.  8. How do they do on their OWLs? On their NEWTs? Rue does extremely well on both OWLs and NEWTS, making mostly O’s and an E, rivaling Hermione for the top spot.  9. Thoughts on Quidditch? Do they play? And if so what position do they play? Honestly Rue does not understand anything about Quidditch. She does not know what makes it so popular and appealing, and would rather be petrified then ever get on a broom again after first year. So she doesn’t play, but she does try her best to support Harry, Julien, and Ginny in Quidditch. She’ll come to the games and cheer when ever Tracey tells her something good has happened. 10. What Wizarding treat (bertie botts, chocolate frogs, etc.) is their favorite? Sugar Quills. She has a bit of a sweet tooth because growing up Dudley would always steal any candy away from Rue. She eats Sugar Quills during Charms a lot, but Flitwick never gets onto her. 11. What is their Patronus? What happy memory do the use to conjure it? Rue doesn’t have a patronus. None of her memories are strong enough to conjure one. Even ‘happy’ moments like seeing her parents in the Mirror of Erised holds a reminder of what she has lost. 12-15 have been answered here! 16. If they trained as an Animagus what form would they take? Rue becomes an Animagus between third and fourth year. Her form is a red-tailed hawk! 17. What do they do/want to do after Hogwarts? Rue will become Hogwarts’ transfiguration teacher and will also do a lot of spell creation and potion research as well. 18. Which Unforgivable Curse would they be most likely to use? What would be the reason for it? If Rue had to use one, it would be the Cruciatus Curse, because she has a quick temper and a ruthless side, so she would be more likely to want to cause pain (only if she believes they deserve it). But in all honesty, Rue can be quite creative when it comes to spells and knows ways to cause pain or death outside of the Unforgivables. 19. Which Unforgivable Curse would they hate to have used on them the most? The Imperius Curse, no question. The idea of someone controlling her, imposing their will on her disturbs Rue deeply. Pain she can handle; death she doesn’t fear. But being controlled? Someone turning herself against her? She couldn’t bare it. 20. Which Deathly Hallow (wand, stone, or cloak) would they want? Why? Eh this is a spoiler, but actually, Rue ends up earning the loyalty of the Elder Wand. She didn’t know it and didn’t actively want it, but it is the Deathly Hallow that suits her best (I have a whole symbolism idea of the Deathly Hallows correlating with Rue, Harry, and Tom).  

Julien 1.What is their blood status (pureblood, muggleborn, etc)? What are their thoughts on the concept of blood status? He is a pureblood and his family is part of the Sacred 28. While he grew up immersed in the culture of purebloods, he (and his family) doesn’t buy into blood status.  2. What is their wand wood and core? Redwood, dragon heartstring core, 12 and half inches, surprisingly swishy. 3. Do they bring a pet to Hogwarts with them? Yes. Julien has a pet lizard named Scamandar. 4. What Hogwarts house were they sorted into? Why did the hat put them in that house over the others? Was it a quick sorting or a hatstall? Are they happy with their sorting? What Hogwarts house would they least fit into? The Hat sorted Julien into Hufflepuff as soon as it was placed on his head. He is pleased with the sorting because his family has always had a strong affiliation with Hufflepuff. It was his father’s house and he’s always admired his dad. I would have to say Ravenclaw is the house that would least suit him. Julien isn’t really studious, analytical, or introspective. He is bold and daring (especially in Quidditch)  like a Gryffindor but is also is and determined to reach his goals like a Slytherin. 5. What subject is their favorite at Hogwarts? Which is their least favorite? Is their favorite the same as their best subject?  Flying Lessons first year because Julien has always been a natural talent at flying. Beyond that, Care of Magical Creatures because his favorite aunt is a magizoologist and it’s his best class since Julien actually studies for it and loves it. His least favorite is History of Magic because Binns puts him to sleep and also Potions because he just doesn’t vibe and Snape is a horrible teacher. 6. What electives do they chose in third year? Care of Magical Creatures (naturally) and Muggle Studies (because he is genuinely interested in learning more about the muggle world. While he’s shared a lot of pureblood customs with Rue, he has enjoyed learning more about what it was like to grow up among Muggles). 7. Do they earn more house points or do they lose more? Julien earns points for Hufflepuff in Quidditch, but then loses points because he loves all Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes products and has been caught with them many times. Especially in fifth year. 8. How do they do on their OWLs? On their NEWTs? Julien does alright. He doesn’t study hard and seems to pass with luck more than anything else. E’s and A’s, but with a Dreadful in History of Magic. Only gets an A in Potions and Herbology because of Rue and Tracey. 9. Thoughts on Quidditch? Do they play? And if so what position do they play? Quidditch is Julien’s greatest love. He nearly rivals Oliver Wood in his level of obsession. He’s always been a talented flyer, but he also works very hard, practicing on the field nearly every day. He is a Keeper, and becoming the Hufflepuff Captain sixth year is his greatest accomplishment. He’s known since he was young that he would be a professional Quidditch player and he has never doubted it or strayed from that goal. 10. What Wizarding treat (bertie botts, chocolate frogs, etc.) is their favorite? Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, because he thinks it’s entertaining to make bets on what flavour someone will get. He’s unusually lucky and gets sweet flavors more often then not, but he thinks it’s more fun to eat the weirder ones. 11. What is their Patronus? What happy memory do the use to conjure it? A stallion, and he uses memories from his best Quidditch game and the general memory of the freedom and pure joy of flying on a broom.  12. What is their Boggart? What happens to it when they cast Riddikulus? Julien is afraid of Dragon Pox after watching his grandfather die from it. His boggart is himself with Dragon Pox and when he casts Riddikulus, the Boggart becomes a little dragon because he thinks actual dragons are awesome. 13. What does Amortentia smell like to them? Treacle tart, the woody smell of a broomstick handle, and cinnamon. 14. What spell is their favorite? Which do they use the most? His favorite spell is the knitting spell Mrs. Weasley teaches him. He uses Episkey the most because he hurts his fingers a lot during intense Quidditch practices. 15. If they needed it, what form would the Room of Requirement take for them? A cozy room with a bed so he can take a nap.  16. If they trained as an Animagus what form would they take? Julien would be a flying squirrel. 17. What do they do/want to do after Hogwarts? Julien succeeds in becoming a professional Quidditch player, becoming the youngest Keeper of the England National Teem. When he retires after a fantastic career, he becomes a popular Quidditch commentator. 18. Which Unforgivable Curse would they be most likely to use? What would be the reason for it? Julien is my precious boy, who would rather dodge, use shield charms, or stupefy. But if he had to he would use the Killing Curse because while it causes death, it is a painless death. He couldn’t bring himself to torture someone or Imperio them. 19. Which Unforgivable Curse would they hate to have used on them the most? The Cruciatus Curse. It’s not really the pain he fears, because he’s used to breaking bones in Quidditch. Really he’s scared of being driven insane by the torture. His father was once best friends with Frank Longbottom, so Julien grew up knowing what happened to them. He once went with his dad to visit Frank and Alice at St. Mungos and Julien has never forgotten it.  20. Which Deathly Hallow (wand, stone, or cloak) would they want? Why? After fourth year, Julien would ant the resurrection stone in order to summon Cedric’s spirit in order to say goodbye. Cedric was like a big brother figure to Julien and his death deeply hurts him.

The general love questions for Julien and Harry!

Idk if you’re asking for the general questions and the love questions, so i’m just going to answer both because I adore this wholesome couple.

General 1. Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go? Harry. He was aware that Julien has loved him for a while, so when Harry finally admits he returns his feelings, it’s one of the best moments of Julien’s life. 2. Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like? Yes. Julien is such a soft romantic, Tracey is brilliant, and Rue knows her brother well, so the Copper Trio helps Julien plan a unique first day especially since Julien remembers Harry admitting how awkward his first Hogsmeade date was with Cho. Their first date is a picnic on the Quidditch field and they bring their brooms so they can race and chase each other. 3. What was their first kiss like? It happened during their first date while they were still on their brooms after the last race which was the closest between them. It was a quick kiss, a peck really, Julien taking a bit of a risk. They were already breathless and full of laughter, but Julien had never seen Harry smile so big afterwards and Harry leaned in for another. 4. Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)? Both of them have had relationships and kisses before (Harry with Cho fifth year, and Julien with a male Beauxbatons student fourth year). But those relationships didn’t last that long, so Julien and Harry are each other’s first real love and long term relationship. 5. What’s their height difference? Age difference? There’s a bit of a height difference (5 inches because Harry(Daniel Radcliffe) is short). Not much of an age difference, Julien is only two months older. 6. What’s their relationship with each other’s families? Great both ways. Julien’s parents have come to adore Harry after Harry and Rue stayed with the Fawley’s summer between third and fourth year. They would be more than pleased if Harry was to become their son in law. Julien is one of Rue’s best friend and she thinks he’s one of the best people in the world, so she 100% approves of Julien/Harry. Sirius and Julien get along great and Remus appreciates how happy Julien makes Harry. 7. Who takes the lead in social situations? Julien. He’s truly a social butterfly because he’s very charming and also grew up attending a lot of social events for his father’s ministry job and because of pureblood society. Harry has more introverted tendencies and is still a bit awkward in crowds considering his struggles with dealing with the whole public perception when he was the boy who lied in fifth year and then the Chosen One after wards. 8. Who gets jealous easier? Julien is the first to be jealous because seeing Harry and Cho together is what makes him realizes how much he cares for Harry, but Julien does’t act on it. He keeps his feelings to himself, tries to be a good friend for Harry and wants all the happiness in the world for Harry, even if it’s not with Julien, Harry feels moments of jealousy and a bit of insecurity later on especially at social functions because people just flock to Julien, drawn by his personality and he struggles to think himself special, even as the Chosen One, so he questions why Julien is with him (even though Julien constantly has heart eyes for Harry).

Love 1. Who said “I love you” first? Julien. After Harry and Cho break up, someone (idk who yet) mentions how much Julien is into Harry. Harry asks him about it and Julien doesn’t lie to him. He admits his feelings but also makes it clear that Harry does not have to say anything in return. He would be happy just staying friends.  2. What are their primary love languages? Julien shows love through physical touch while Harry shows it through quality time. 3. How often do they cuddle/engage in PDA? Julien is a very affectionate person and doesn’t hide it. Especially when they’re out of Hogwarts, Julien will kiss Harry on the cheek a lot and hold his hand. Harry is a bit shyer but in private he definitely loves to cuddle.  4. What are their favorite things to do together? Playing Quidditch and flying on their brooms together.  5. Who’s better at comforting the other? Julien because he gives the best hugs and a good listener. What really brings them together is that after fourth year, Julien is Harry’s main comforter as Harry is dealing with the grief over Cedric. Julien was also really close to Cedric, so that loss is shared between them. 6. Who’s more protective? Harry, because he’s lost so many loved ones already and knows that Julien would be a target for being the Chosen One’s boyfriend.  7. Do they prefer verbal or physical affection? Physical. You cannot tell me that with Harry’s childhood that baby would not be a bit touch starved.  8. What are some songs that apply to their relationship, in-universe or otherwise? Dancing on my Own by Calum Scott,  Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, Sweet Creature by Harry Styles  9. What kind of nicknames do they call each other? Harry calls Julien Jules and Julien calls Harry babe.

💡 + Julien my boy

Julien came about while I was making Rue’s friend group. I wanted her to have her own trio and after deciding Tracey Davis would be the canon slytherin Rue would befriend, I decided I wanted to make a male Hufflepuff oc because 1) more house diversity and 2) I really wanted to use Chance Perdomo as an fc. Soon I decided he would be paired with Harry because I want more bi!Harry who has a thing for skilled Quidditch players. I decided to make him a Pureblood so his dad can be influential in the ministry (and help get Rue and Harry out of the Dursley’s house sooner) so I looked through the sacred 28, randomly picked Fawley and found it was canonically affiliated with Hufflepuff.
