Collage of my NASA Apollo technician costume references & in-progress shots, and final. Put this together last year for the 50th anniversary. I used a white jumpsuit / coveralls I had (left over from a previous costume).
Managed to get a similar but not exact headset & converted it as best I could. Washed it (it reeked of cigarette smoke), took it apart, washed it, repainted it, reassembled it. Made some labels for it in Adobe Illustrator. Bought a white surgical scrubs cap and added a vintage NASA patch (from eBay). Used inkjet printer fabric to make my own Apollo ‘mission patch’ & NASA chest patch. Scavenged a big NASA back patch from a cheapie drawstring backpack (not shown). Recreated the area permit & employee ID using reference photos & images of actual IDs. Bought some period ID tag clips from eBay (not necessary, but I’m proud of that attention to detail). Got a short sleeved white dress shirt & a vintage tie. Took a lot of work & research, and I’m very pleased with this costume.
