For the July writing challenge, the first prompt is to translate the first few lines of your favorite book. I chose Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. The language I am learning right now is Dutch, so here we go I guess...

July writing challenge
Day 9: lost
Here are some things I do when I feel lost:
Look at photographs from years ago, when I was a little kid. The photos of my parents when they were young and to think, the photos of my dad when he was just as old as I am now, strutting in front of The Lotus Temple, beaming and flexing his black belt in karate or something, him and his friends training in the army; my mom every so shy and demure with her dupatta draped, and the distant look in her eyes, her long hair, holding a delicate kitten in her palm, a young bride, coyly holding my father’s hand who looks smart in a leather jacket; a photo of me and my sister, she having recently peed on her clothes and soaking my multicoloured tulle dress and she crying and me smiling; when I feel lost I go back to the family photo albums placed indifferently on the coffee table in the living room, and I flip over the plastic pages, carefully glancing at photos, to remind myself that the people whom I love and who love me are what matters, a reminder that reminds me who I am, where my roots are, how lovingly they raised me. I guess that’s what helps me find me again.

July writing challenge - ITALIAN- Day 17
17. What’s one nice thing that you’ve done for someone else recently?
Siamo andate a casa insieme e abbiamo parlato. Lei è una donna carina. Dopo mi ha ringraziato è detto che ho megliorato la sua giornata.
JULY WRITING CHALLENGE
1. Bench
I am not a poet, or a creative writer. What I’ve mostly written throughout my 20 years of existence is just angsty journal entries from ages 11-15 and then i went on to journal about feeling sad mostly. and ever since I started college I’ve just been writing academic research papers like 6 times a year. so frailly armed with very little experience in writing, the prompt “bench” prompts me to think about benches; real benches, album art benches, the school bench behind my bench where my high school crush sat. Bench. If you’re a fan of Mumford and Sons, the band, you might be aware of their album, Wilder Mind. And the album art of the album is a bench overlooking the night view of a city, and that’s one bench I can remember that was a part of my life. Now I don’t really have a creative analysis of the album art or it’s significance as a motif, but what I do know is that I associate that album with nostalgia. I would listen to it late at nights, the songs would accompany me while I was practising trigonometry, the album was the soundtrack to my lovelorn existence back in 2015 and weirdly the bench album art can be associated to the bench where my crush sat. so my crush kinda resembled Marcus Mumford and Oh I was delusional; I guess we’ve all had that crush who in reality never crushed back on us, but we romanticised the idea of being liked back and every glance of theirs had an imaginary undercurrent of hope. The hope of being liked back. I even went as far as to scribble a cursive “I like you” on his bench which he would hopefully see but I still don’t know whether he saw it or not.
July Writing challenge, day 2
The prompt: If you could live in any era, what would it be and why?
Sorry if there's bad grammar, and I know the sentences are really simple.
