Digging Up The Past.
Lately, Elijah has been doing a special form of training during his tutelage under Viridian. Before he is taught anything advanced or given more knowledge, he is focusing on refining his basics and removing any blocks tampering with his magical ability. Digging deep within himself to find answers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coming out of meditation, he speaks to Viridian. "Hey uh Viridian, I can't seem to find any more blocks, I've already released a lot and nothings popping up. Can I get some more advice maybe?"
Viridian, a bit surprised at this tells him. "Well, it could be that you're mentally blocking yourself from seeing these blocks, as ironic as that sounds. When I sense you, I definitely feel that there is a major one within you."
"Huh.. That's interesting, do you know what it is?"
"I feel that it may have something to do with your father. I think to access this block you need to focus on his memory."
"Alright.. let me try that, thanks Viridian." He smiles, and then goes back to meditation.
Viridian thinks. "I believe he is strong enough to release this one now, I have full faith in him."
Elijah focuses on the memory of his father, Elijah Senior. Until finally, he's hit with these overwhelming thoughts and feelings that have long been repressed.
"Did he really love me."
"Did he actually care about me."
"Did he value being an assassin over me."
"Did he actually regret lying to me about his profession."
"Why didn't he quit, why did he look into that organization, we could have been happy together. He would have still been alive."
"Why?"
"Why..."
"Why-" Suddenly, Elijah feels as if something literally came out of him. Opening his eyes, he sees... His father.
"Huh?! How the fuck-"
"How 'bout it Elijah. We do a little sparing match and we can go get some wings after, maybe go to the arcade too." The original Jumper says, smiling and giving a wink.
Elijah starts crying. "Dad.. Is that really-" Suddenly, his dad initiates the first move. A quick jab to the stomach that Elijah narrowly dodges. "SHIT-"
His dad chuckles. "Son how many times do we have to go over this. Never drop your guard!" His dad continuing to go on the offensive, with Elijah only being able to block and counter for a while.
"Yknow dad, I've learnt a few tricks since our last sparring match.. Take this!" Elijah teleports a few feet back, and shoots a ball of magical energy at him. Huh, weird. For some reason he didn't even hesitate on doing that?
His dad smirks, casually backhanding and deflecting the blast away.
Elijah is completely dumbfounded. "You're fucking kidding me right..?"
Viridian what the heck is happening here? "It appears that Elijah subconsciously sees his dad as unstoppable and unable to be beaten, which is why despite his father never acquiring magic, he's able to keep up with and casually deflect something like that." Huh, interesting.
"Elijah, it doesn't matter if you know this or that trick. If you don't got the basics and foundations down, then there's just no point."
They continue to spar, his dad giving random pointers and lessons as they clash. Eventually, Elijah is taken down to the ground. His father winning the sparring match.
He extends his hand towards his son. "You did well Elijah, you've grown a lot since we last sparred together. I'm really proud of how far you've come." Elijah smiles, grabbing his fathers hand and getting back up.
Suddenly, he pulls his dad into a hug. Bawling his eyes out.
"Dad I- I don't know what to say- I'm just.. Glad you're here with me."
His dad smiles, patting him on the head. "I'm glad I'm here too.."
"Even if you're just a recreation from my mind, you might as well be the real deal.. Can.. You answer one last question for me dad?"
"Of course Elijah, ask me anything."
"Did.. Did you really love me? Did you actually care about me? Or did you value being an assassin over being there for your son."
"Of course I love and care for you my son. I wasn't an assassin by choice, and it was nearly impossible for me to quit.. I was born into it. I wanted you to have a normal life, which is why I never told you about my work, but I guess that backfired in the end, they found out where we lived anyway."
He hugs his dad tighter. "Don't worry dad, I never doubted that. I just, felt like asking I guess."
"You know, I really wish your mom was here to see you today, she would have been so proud of you, to see you grow into such a fine young man."
He starts to fade back into Elijah. "Oh- well.. It looks like you've resolved me. Haha, good luck son. Always remember that I love you, and to keep moving forward no matter what."
"Dad please don't go please.. Just a little longer.." He fully fades away.
Elijah is looking down, a little sad but, also determined.
Viridian walks up to him. "Is.. Is everything alright dear?"
"Yeah I- I feel a lot better. Everything feels like it's flowing a lot easier, like I cleaned up the river and got it flowing again so to speak."
"He.. Seemed like a really good man. I can see how you turned out the way you did." She says, chuckling.
Elijah is still looking down, not responding.
Viridian's a bit worried, patting him on the head and then putting her hand on his shoulder. "You should feel very proud of yourself right now dear. You faced probably your greatest block, and have resolved some deep emotions, come. We should have some snacks and tea-" Elijah suddenly hugs her.
Viridian is a little surprised by this but nonetheless, she accepts it and hugs back. "Oh you poor thing-"
"Thank you for everything Viridian, for all the lessons and guidance. I don't know if I'll ever be able to repay you for any of this.. I just, I wish he was still here with me- I wish he never died."
"The past is the past, what's done is done. There is no point in dwelling on it, all that matters is you continue to move forward. Also, you don't need to repay me or anything." She chuckles.
"Now you see, love is a form of energy. And I can sense his love all around you, so even if he isn't here anymore. Not only are you half of him, but his love will never leave you. Even if he is no longer physically among us.."
"That's.. That's good to know." He says, smiling.
"How about we go have some snacks and tea as you said, that sounds freaking amazing right now." He's different, he seems happier and lighter, indicating that this was a success.
"Of course Elijah, let us go have some great snacks and tea!"
She thinks. "I knew he was ready, I am so proud of him."
