The person in front of you was moving slowly. Not that you were eager to participate in the next game, but this was dreadful. It started to annoy you that he took every step up the stairs with caution. As if he could dread his fate. You had tried to make it clear a few times by sighing loud. It wasn’t that you were an impatient person, but this was just diabolical. You waited a moment before going up the step.
Allowing him to have that bit of extra time before you came poking behind him once more. Taking another deep sigh, you looked over your shoulder. Looking down at the players behind you on the lower level.
Going as slow as you did cause the person in front of you was setting the pace. Looking back in front of you, you were close to pulling your hair out, out of frustration. Looking over his shoulder, you saw an intersection coming. A turn.
You waited for him to reach the turn before rushing past him. Having more room to get him out of the way. The way got startled from your sudden bypassing. You could care less, hurrying up the stairs to catch up with those that were in front of him. Quickly you reached them. Huffing and puffing a bit. – “Someone is eager.” – you heard a voice speak. Making you lift your head up, seeing a young man walk in front of you.
Clearly he had been watching you speed past him and catch up. Your eyes falling on his number tag. Player 388. – “Or just tired of slow-walkers.” – you responded with a sarcastic smile. The guy moved his hands up. – “Warn me if I walk too slowly before knocking me off my feet.” – he teased with a cheeky smile. You curled up a smile back. – “I’ll be sure to nudge you then.” – leaving him to chuckle with delight.
The pace was more vast as you felt more at ease. Following with ease without the dreading of being slowed down. Something about slow-walkers that got on your nerves. It wasn’t going to change anything. Whether he walked slow or fast, he still would need to play the games. For that he had chosen to do once he made the call. Finally you reached the top.
The crowd spreading out to enter the room. Player 388 seemed to linger till you came at his side. – “Dae-ho.” – he said, holding his hand out to you. – “Y/n.” – you responded taking his hand and bow your head at him. The two of you walked inside the bright blue room. – “Daebak!” – Dae-ho called out in utter disbelieve at the sight of the room. You chuckled quietly at how easily impressed he was.
There was a loud whistle, catching both your attention. – “Dae-ho, brother!” – an older man called out, waving him over. Standing with two other man. – “I’m coming Jung-bae, brother!” – he responded loudly, moving his hand up. – “Best of luck, Y/n.” – Dae-ho told you with a bow.
“Best of luck to you too.” – you answered. Dae-ho left your side, joining his friends or at least those he had put his trust with. Exhaling deep, you looked around. There weren’t many people you knew or bonded with. Feeling a little lost, you moved closer to the centre.
Gaze falling on the ground, you lifted your foot up. Staring at the colourful lines underneath your feet. Going around in a circle. The emotionless voice coming through the speakers made you lift your head up. For the next game you need to form groups of five within the time-limit. Boomed through the boxes. Great.
Sighing loud, you knew it would be a hard task for you. Some people around you already started to gather around. Already having made acquaintances since last game. Feeling as if you were in a disadvantage. Checking the timer made you swallow hard. How ever were you going to find four more people to join.
A woman bumped against your shoulder to rush to some other girls. Making you roll your eyes. Taking a deep breath, you started your tour. Going around the blue cloudy room in search for other players. You made eye-contact with some boys.
Three they were. They clearly saw you, but shook their head. One of them pulled at one of his jacket to turn his back to you. Blocking you out. – “Geurae.”- you whispered out that it didn’t matter. That it didn’t bother you.
Tugging your hands in the jacket’s pocket, you continued to walk around. Seeing groups being quickly formed. Even getting on the tips of your toes to look for other lonely players. Hearing some sudden arguing made you set your feet down. Turn your head to where the arguing was coming from. A boy was scolding a girl, holding her by her arm.
You moved a bit closer, compelled. – “Who would want to team up with a pregnant girl?” – the boy called out rudely. Giving her a hard shake. His reaction made you clench your jaw.
Pull your hands out from the pockets and storm over to them. Without thinking, you stood up for the girl. – “I would!” – you made clear pulling his grip down. Shooting him a hard glare before taking her hand. – “Now piss off!” – you gave him a shove, making him stumble back.
The boy. Player 333 scoffed with a glance away. You turned on your heel, taking her with you. – “What an arse.” – you muttered under your breath. Once you were far enough from him, you stopped. – “Don’t listen to him. I’ll team up with you.” – you gave her a thumbs up with a cheeky smile, one eye closed.
She chuckled at your confidence. – “I’m very good at games, so we’ve got this babe.” – you moved your shoulder cutely up. – “I’m Y/n by the way.” – you told her. – “Jun-hee.” – she responded with a hand on her stomach.
“Okay Jun-hee we’re a team.” – holding it out two fingers to her. Jun-hee smiled pulling your hand down. – “We still need three more players Y/n.” – she reminded you. Motioning with her head at the timer.
“No problem.” – you told her. Locking your arm with hers. – “I can see another interesting girl over there.” – you pointed out. Pointing at a girl standing a bit lost.
Pulling Jun-hee with you, you approached you. – “Hi, in need of a team.” – you asked. She turned her head with curiosity. Not expecting anyone to talk to her. You showed your best smile. The girl let her gaze go down to Jun-hee.
Jun-hee pulled up her shoulders. – “She is this confident.” – she told her. The girl nodded. You locked arms with her as well. – “Two more, ladies.” – you called out. Your eyes met with Dae-ho. He waved you over.
You pulled your shoulders up, hinting at the two girls with you. He nodded, shooting you a wink afterwards. You mouthed a ‘good luck’ to him before going further.
It didn’t take you long to find two more players. A mother and son. Complete before the timer went off. Taking a seat with your group. Jun-hee sitting beside you. You kept your arm locked around hers.
“We’ll show that arse just how badass a pregnant woman can be.” – you told her. Jun-hee laughed, letting her head lean against your shoulder. – “Thank you for letting me join.” – she whispered out. – “Anytime.” – you responded. Waiting for the second game to set.
