Desolate Paradise June Update

Hey everyone!

I have another update again. A lot of stuff has been happening in my personal life that has caused a bit of slow down on development of my characters.

I’ve finally finished Julie after much trial and error due to the limited amount of information I had on her character. I ended up having to improvise a lot of her elements and what will fit in this Desolate Paradise story plot. Thankfully I’m quite content with what I’ve accomplished with her.

Now Kane...

Like I said before I had a good feeling that he would easier to figure out then Julie. After plenty of brainstorming ideas I’m content with the direction of his character / villain. I just need to finish it and get him out the way.

Next will be Jacob and Dr. Hudson, I know these guys will be a lot easier in the story because of the ideas I had for them before Kane and Julie.

So wish me luck!

As for my drawings, I don’t really have much at the moment due to Kane and Julie’s character references taking a lot of my time. Once I finish them I’ll be taking a break from writing and focus on drawing for a while in July.

Don’t worry, I will still work on Jacob and Dr. Hudson, when new ideas come around.

That is all I have to say in this update.

I’m glad you guy’s take the time to read and support me, it means a lot to me even though a lot stuff has happened in my personal life during the start of this project that delayed it and causes a lot pauses for the comic to be released.

I’m working really hard this year and trying to reach my goals for 2023.

There’s so much and yet so little to update this month. I didn’t write much, but been very producitve in other means.

1) my WIPs

Working with critique partners on taoki has already been so rewarding. Most of all because I get so excited about improving it even more, and also because the lovely feedback is really motivating to actually put the work in it!

Last month I talked about  outlining and planning In the Land of Twilight. This WIP still remains to be so hard on me, but I went back to an original idea, decided what I actually want it to be and made some plans too. This way, I won’t outline it and instead completely rewrite it.

I’m working really hard on Invincible too, at the moment. I really want this to finish as soon as possible so that I can start working on the Five Senses, but I feel a little blocked because I am afraid that the second part will not be as good as the first one :( I don’t even know why I am pressuring myself in that matter? Nonetheless, I am over 55k which makes me a little proud considering that I thought this would be a novelette at best.

The Five Senses has gotten some planning as well, I really hope I can start writing on it soon! (stares angrily at Invincible)

2) short stories

Yes. I did it. I know, I know, I can hardly believe it myself, but I did write part 2&3 of the djinn series, which you can find here. I also wrote Green Hearts, Every Night is Quiet if You Ignore the Noise, and Chosen Wrong (which will most likely get a part two!)

I also realized today that, maybe, my 3 year blog anniversary this November will collide with my 100th short story, so I will probably think of a little celebration until then! (If you have any wishes or suggestions, let me know!)

And I think that’s it! It was a very busy and stressful month for me personally, so I hope I will get more writing done this one ^^
