Standing on the edge of the balcony, you looked down, neon to golden shades glowed all over making the city look magnificent from the 40th floor of your place. A shudder ran down your spine as the cold wind hit your body which was covered with your boyfriend's white dress shirt with red lace panties underneath. A pair of strong hands wrapped around you and your back hit a warm chest.
"What's wrong, baby?" kissing your hair, he asked.
Liking the warmth radiating from his body, you snuggled closer as you let out a low sigh "Nothing. Couldn't sleep. I was gonna take pills anyways."
"Again? You should stop-"
"I know Kook, I should stop taking pills."
"It's bad for your health, you know?" he sighed, pressing his chin on top of your head.
"Yes, I know. I'll try not to take them, okay?" you assured him.
“Okay.”
“Anyways, I’m hungry.” you murmured. “You know what we should do?” gasping you said as if you found out a great discovery.
“What?” he asked, curiosity picking up.
“We should go grocery shopping!” turning around you faced him, an excited smile on your lips. “It’s 2 in the morning Y/N.” he said, trying to calm your sudden enthusiasm down. “So what?” you said. “You said you were hungry! I’ll cook you some ramen and we can have it here.” he argued back. “Or, we could go to a convenience store, buy snacks and have them. Come on! It’ll be fun” you started whining.
This was constant in your relationship with him. Sudden plans leading to fun nights. Sometimes you’d go walk around the city at night barefoot just to check if the ground was cold or hot while sometimes there’d be impulsive decisions leading to sudden trips to random places. Taking random buses to the last place it went and then coming back home. Riding bikes through the streets of Seoul was something both of you adored. Playing hide and seek all over Seoul and what not.
Agreed, all these had to be done at night or on the break of dawn so that there wouldn’t be articles and headlines everywhere, Jeon Jungkook, spotted having fries and burger in the middle of the road in his pajamas. Yeah, that’d be bad.
“Alright. Let’s go.” his bunny teeth showing up as he smiled.
Throwing bicycle keys towards his way, you sang, “We are riding bikes!”
Deciding that it was best to not go to any convenience store downtown, you ride your bikes towards the inner side of the city. On reaching the convenience store, you and Jungkook decided to split up.
“Okay, you go that way and I’ll go this way.” he pointed in the opposite direction. “Take everything till the cart’s full.” yelling, you made your way to the other side.
Stuffing as much stuff as possible, you both met up in the middle of the store.
“Good job.” an approving smile sat on your lips as you put your thumbs up, then proceeded to high five him.
On the way to the counter you both picked up more snacks. Once done paying, you made your way out of the store.
“OH MY GOD. IS THAT JEON JUNGKOOK!?” an excited voice in the middle of the night startled you and your eyes widened.
“Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.” a series of curses left his mouth as looked at you mirroring your reaction.
“Stop shitting!!” you whisper-yelled.
“I’m not shitting.” He harshly whispered back as to prove he was offended.
Hearing their voices come closer you mentally slapped yourself as you both hurried your stuffs from the cart to shove them in the baskets.
A number of loud screeches made you look up as you saw a group of people running towards your direction once they saw your hurries. Picking up the plastics, you threw one to Jungkook as you pulled his hand, sprinting out of the parking spot into the neighbourhood. On seeing the both of you run, the group ran behind you, making the entire scene a cat and mouse scene where you and Jungkook were the mouse.
“This was a bad idea.” Jungkook yelled as you both ran with all might, plastics full of snacks in your hands as they crashed against each other creating more sound.
“What is this place?” you asked as you looked around seeing the endless road in front of you.
“I don’t know. You brought us here.” Jungkook yelled, as if scrutinizing you.
Looking behind you saw the group as they screamed when they saw Jungkook’s face.
“Shouldn’t have turned.” Jungkook scolded himself as you both kept running.
Spotting a division of road, Jungkook grabbed the plastic from your hand, throwing both his and yours behind as he pulled you to the other side of the road. The group got blocked by the plastics as you both kept running. A park came into sight as you both climbed up the stairs reaching a dead end. Looking back, you noticed no one was behind you as you both stood there. Making eye contact with Jungkook, you both stared at each other before you both fell into fits of laughter, holding onto each other so that you won’t fall.
On calming down, you took a deep breath as you looked forward. A gasp left your mouth as you saw the entire city’s view in front of you, the bright lights illuminating the entire city. You could see the huge posters from above as your boyfriend’s face sat on them, happy birthday written in different calligraphy. Jungkook pulled you closer to you, as you both sat down on the grass right before the cliff ended.
Laying your head on his shoulder, a contained sigh left your mouth “crazy birthday huh?”. You heard him equally sigh as he pulled you closer looking at the night sky, stars covering them as if they protected the sky. “Crazy birthday” he repeated, a soft smile playing on his lips.
You looked at him as he stared at the sky. And at that moment you felt as if you had won in life. You didn’t know what would happen when the light peaked through the sky, but you knew you’d be with him. The boy you adored, the boy you loved. And nothing felt that right as it did then.
Jungkook had been in relationships before. But with you it was so much different. A good difference.
And when he looked at the sky, billions of stars twinkled all over the sky. The moon looked in love with the sky like he was with you. He didn’t know what would happen when the moon finally left the sky, but he did know that it would come back again, an eternal promise between them.
And at that moment he knew he had won in life, because he’d be with you. The girl he adored, the girl he loved. And nothing felt that right as it did then.
