He’s very careful around you, Junhee likes to think of himself as the one that needs to protect you as your best friend. It’s a role that he takes very seriously and makes sure that if you’re ever in harm that he’s there.
B ⇴ BICKER
Most of the time if the two of you bicker, Junhee will be the one to end it when he realises how childish you both sound. Junhee won’t lower his standards too much when he’s around you, he’ll still try and keep things mature, especially if there are other people around who are watching the two of you bicker too.
C ⇴ COMFORT
One of the best things about having Junhee is how good he is at comforting you and making sure that you don’t feel as if you’re alone. The moment he clocks that something isn’t right, Junhee won’t leave your side no matter how much you want to try and convince him that there’s nothing for him to worry about.
D ⇴ DISAGREEMENTS
It’s pretty rare for the two of you to disagree, but when you do, you always talk it through with one another to learn where you’ve gone wrong and make sure that it doesn’t happen again. Most of the time you’ll disagree over something silly, like who’s going to pay for something when you’re out, but for some reason it’s something that the two of you both feel quite passionate about to try and get your own way.
E ⇴ EARLY YEARS
Together the two of you found yourselves thrown in at the deep end where you first met as there was a lot of new stuff around you. You relied on each other for support and comfort, especially during the early days of your training period as you both felt as if you’d been thrown in quite far too the deep end. Neither of you were sure whether you would have got through it all if it wasn’t for having the other there.
F ⇴ FAMILY
Junhee’s family were incredibly close to you, they supported you just like they supported Junhee and gave you any help that they needed too. They’d followed Junhee of course through his trainee days, but they also kept a very close eye on you too. Whenever your group hosted a concert, Junhee’s family would turn up to support you as they loved rooting for you and seeing just how well you were doing for yourself.
G ⇴ GETTING TOGETHER
Both of you had similar interests, so it made hanging out pretty easy as nine times out of ten you could agree on what it was that you wanted to do. Even if you had two options, all you had to do was flip a coin to decide as whether it landed on heads or tails, the both of you would still be happy with the outcome.
H ⇴ HABITS
The two of you had a habit of going off into your own little worlds. Junhee was a bit of a daydreamer anyway, but often when you were with others the two of you would separate from them too. There would often be two conversations at the table, everyone around the group and then you and Junhee all on your own.
I ⇴ INSIDE JOKES
Most of your embarrassing moments were around one another and so you liked to use them to make sure that you got your own ways with one another. If someone was being stubborn or saying no, all you had to do was threaten to post one of your inside jokes online and the other would quickly change their minds.
J ⇴ JEALOUSY
If there was ever a time when Junhee got jealous, you would always be able to tell as he would go very quiet in conversation. He wouldn’t really want to participate and pay attention to whoever was making him feel jealous as your best friend. Once the two of you were left alone, you would get him talking and make sure that Junhee didn’t bottle things up, even if he was feeling a little embarrassed about being jealous.
K ⇴ KICKS
Junhee got a kick out of seeing you succeed, he absolutely supported you as much as you did him. He never got jealous of your achievements, Junhee was only ever proud of you and relieved to see that your career had taken off like you had dreamt it would when the two of you first started out together at work.
L ⇴ LOVE
He loved how encouraging you always were, even when Junhee felt particularly rubbish. You never let him doubt himself when he was around you, you were relentless at times at trying to make sure that he didn’t lose confidence in himself. You knew first hand just how talented Junhee was and so you would drill it into him that he didn’t need to be so hard on himself, something that the boys all did to him too.
M ⇴ MEETING
The two of you first met when you were trainees together, you were there for each other’s first days when you started at the company. As the newbies you found yourselves sticking together as you tried to figure out where everything was and get to know the other people that were around the company.
N ⇴ NONSENSE
You were definitely the person that Junhee felt most at ease around and so you were the one that saw him when he was at his most random too. Around others he was nervy at times, but never when he was with you.
O ⇴ OBSESSION
Junhee was obsessed with your personality and how well he got along with you. It scared him at times just how inseparable the two of you were, relying on each other more than you ever imagined you would.
P ⇴ PRECIOUS MOMENTS
The moments that meant the most to Junhee were the ones when the two of you were working together. He loved whenever your team and his team were invited to be at a show together, or when your company organised events that meant that both of your groups were required so you could cheer each other on.
Q ⇴ QUESTIONS
As the leader of the group, he felt bad asking the others questions, so instead Junhee often asked his questions to you instead, knowing that you would always be there to try and give him some sort of helpful answer.
R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS
Each year Junhee would make sure that the two of you celebrated the anniversary of your first meeting. He loved to celebrate it by looking through old photos and reminiscing over some of your many embarrassing outfit and hairstyles that the two of you had had during your many years as friends together.
S ⇴ SUPPORT
Having seen more than most how hard Junhee had to work to debut, your support meant a lot to him. He knew that you had been there for day one and really understood just how hard he had worked to get to the position that he was in, which meant that your encouragement meant more than most others did.
T ⇴ TRIPS
When the two of you found yourselves with time off together, you’d usually head out to escape from the city for a while. Both of you encouraged the other to take a break for a little while whenever you could.
U ⇴ ULTIMATE
There was no other person that he wanted to be his best friend, you were easily the only person that he wanted to fill the role.
V ⇴ VISITS
As you worked at the company too, it meant many visits for Junhee when he was at work from you. He was constantly finding you knocking at the door, and each time too always left him smiling as he spotted you.
W ⇴ WISDOM
Having plenty of advice stored for the other members, Junhee liked to use that advice on you too and lead you just like he led them.
X ⇴ XXXX
The two of you would be most affectionate with each other when you were alone, you weren’t massive fans of being annoying around your friends, but you definitely didn’t mind winding each other up when you were alone.
Y ⇴ YOU
You were his constant; you always were right by his side when he needed you.
Z ⇴ ZZZ
He was very aware of the conditions when the two of you brought your day to an end, if it was dark or cold, then the dorm would be where you’d go, and Junhee wouldn’t even give you the chance to protest to him.
You held your hand up to block the sun out from beating down directly into your eyes as you looked around, your skin quite literally feeling as if it were on fire. Yet it was better out here than in the car that had broken down and was now just trapping heat inside it with no relief in sight. Checking your phone once more as you hold it up in hopes of even getting a slow signal, anything to send out a call for help.
“Any luck over there Junhee?” You call looking over to the man who is switching between trying to figure out any way to get the car running again and trying to search for any signal himself.
“Nothing yet, we might have to start trying to walk back to the last town we passed soon.” Junhee sighs, looking around only to be greeted with the same barren desert you’d been stuck in for the past almost two hours.
Your complaint dying on your tongue the second a van pulls up, stopping as they notice your dilemma to offer you a lift to the nearest town. Was it a good idea? Hell no, but you could run the risk of accepting the ride or the risk of trying to rough it out in the desert until some other form of salvation arrived. So you two decided to accept the ride. Someone in the back sliding the side door open for you both to climb in. Giving you only a moment to bask in the feeling of relief that the air conditioning brought before your mouth was covered with a cloth and your vision getting hazy as the shock made you suck in a harsh breath through the drugged material.
Waking up to the cold, rubbing your arms as you try to make anything out in the dark box you currently found yourself in. The only source of light a small slit at the top on one side to provide you with air. Crawling over to the unconscious Junhee, gently trying to shake him awake so you could find a way out together. His eyes finally blink open as light floods the empty box, the front opening to let you now see that you were in a storage container. Two men coming in to grab your arms and drag you out, guns flashing in the sunlight. Looking around to see a whole dock situated behind a large grocery store. To your left there were two other people in the same boat as you, being dragged towards the back entrance of the store by armed guards. A man greets you with a disturbing smile as you walk through the door.
“Welcome! We’re so glad to have some fresh blood. We’re always looking for new eager workers to welcome to our team!” The man claps, having the guards force you in further, “We’ll start with training then. Rule number one: There’s no way out so don’t try. We’d rather not damage you, but we will if we have to. Rule two: Whatever the customer wants they get no matter what that means from you. Rule three: Anything I say goes. Now let’s get you cleaned up and dressed for your first day of work.”
As they lead you off once more you catch a glimpse through a set of freezers from the back, to see what appears to be a normal grocery store. Yet any employees in the back ran out as soon as they saw the man along with the guards not wanting to be stuck in a room with them. Which is how you found yourself being injected with a tracking device and shoved into communal showers before being given a uniform and sent to clean the store floors. Only to make eye contact with Junhee and make a bolt for it when neither of you spotted any guards. You had a lot to learn about the compound though and the tracking devices did you no favors. Being dragged by your hair back behind the store where the man met you only to nod at the guards who shot you in the shoulder while shooting Junhee in the thigh.
“You’ve barely been here six hours and you already want out that bad? Well, what’s stopping you? Kill me and you can have your freedom back.” The man taunts, tossing a pair of scissors at your feet. Smirking as you rush to grab them and lunge at him only for him to press a gun to your forehead and stop you dead in your tracks before you could bring him any harm, “Let them sit for the night. If they survive, maybe they’ll have learned their lesson by then.”
The guards drag you back to your storage container with no care as to your cries of pain or the blood trail it left behind. After all, they weren’t the ones who were gonna have to clean it up anyways. Tossing you into the cold dark storage container and locking it once more. You two were in for a long night.
[4:55pm] junhee smiled widely while looking at you, as you were in awe at the aquarium he took you for valentine’s day. you were strolling down the hallway, glancing up and watching how even the rooftop was made of glass, and you could see sea turtles swimming on top of your head. without you noticing, he kissed your cheek and murmured: “so cute”.
WARNING : none actually? it’s a Doctor fic but there’s really nothing..like that.
GENRE : fluff. FLUFF
NOTE : I honestly have been working on this idea for a really long time and i’m proud how it came out. Although it wasn’t supposed to be this long. I thought the Junhee Goblin one was too long (2.9k) but here we are. Also the ending is really cheesy because i’m a sap.
Something was seriously wrong.
There were 7 people in the small hospital room she was staying in. 7 girls. Out of whom she only knew 3. And that wasn’t even the weirdest thing.
They were dressed. Not we-are-going-to-visit-our-friend-in-hospital dressed but we-spent-an-hour-to-look-like-this dressed. What the hell was going on?
“Oh, you’re awake! How are you feeling?” One of them asked her and she vaguely remembered sharing a class with her. They were certainly not close enough for her to come and see her?
“Umm I’m in pain but yeah. Who are all of them?” Hyejin asked looking at the four girls she had no clue about and one of them stepped towards her and placed a small bouquet of flowers on the table beside her. “We have heard a lot about you so we came to check in.” she smiled sweetly and Hyejin gave her an awkward smile.
The door to her room opened and a nurse walked in, who looked annoyed as soon as she saw the crowd. She asked them to go out while she checked the patient and Hyejin sighed in relief when the room was silent again.
The room opened again and Hyejin looked at it, dreading whoever it was but a smile broke on her face when she saw her best friend walk in, looking worried.
“Hyejin! Are you okay now? What happened?” Areum asked and almost threw herself at Hyejin before the nurse stopped her.
“It was a hit and run case. She has a broken arm as you can see the cast, an injured rib and an injured leg. There are some small bruises too. You must be Kim Areum I presume?” the nurse asked and Areum nodded frantically. Hyejin wanted to laugh but she was in too much pain to do that.
“How long has it been since that happened?” Hyejin asked and the nurse after looking at her watch told her it has been around 15 hours.
“How are you getting here just now?” Hyejin asked Areum who looked angry herself.
“Miss, your emergency contact said he won’t be able to come see you. We had to wait for those girls outside and one of use gave us the number of Miss. Kim. You should change your emergency contact.” The nurse said and started checking her vitals and all.
“Is Sejun still your emergency contact number? Change it to me already.” Areum scolded Hyejin.
“I guess I never had to change it. I can’t believe he said he won’t come. That’s just plain mean man.” Hyejin said and cried in pain when she tried to move her hand. She had a cast on her right hand and she cursed out loud because it even hurts moving her fingers.
There was a loud commotion outside and Hyejin tried to look at the door.
“What’s with the noise outside?” Hyejin asked and Areum shrugged.
“The doctor must be here.” The nurse said and then the door opened and a laughing man entered.
“Are those girls with the patient?” he asked as soon as she entered and Areum spoke up before anyone. “No. I’m the only one with her. I don’t know how they got here before me but I’m the only person close to family of hers.”
The doctor nodded and then he came to stand before Hyejin. And then she understood why there was a commotion when he got here.
“How are you feeling now Miss.?”
“Cho Hyejin.”
He nodded and gave her a toothy smile. It reminded her of a cat somehow.
“Okay, how are you feeling Miss. Cho?”
“A lot of pain. I just tried moving my fingers and even that hurts. I don’t want to try moving anything else right now.” She said and he chuckled and she felt like she could get used to that sound.
There was another uproar outside and they heard someone ushering the girls away and Hyejin saw the nurse smiling in victory.
“You should get a restraining order for those girls doctor. They can’t just claim to know your every patient and come to see you.”
Realisation dawned on Hyejin. So the girls were there to see the doctor? No wonder she didn’t know the majority of them.
“But they did know the patient. They gave us the contact information of her family. I think I can handle it from here now.” The doctor said and with how tight-lipped a smile he gave her, Hyejin felt like the nurse was one of those the doctor would love to get a restraining order against.
The nurse left, albeit unwillingly and she saw Areum snicker at her leaving figure.
“So Doctor..” Areum said, and after looking at his ID card, “Dr. Park, how long does my friend have to stay here?”
Dr. Park looked over the board containing her information and looked up at them, “a week or two at least. As soon as I think she’ll be able to stand on her own two feet and would be alright, I’ll fill in the discharge paper.”
The door opened again and a flustered, clearly half asleep Kang Yuchan ran inside the room.
“Noona? You okay? Areum called me and said you got into an accident and..” he came and hugged her before anyone could react and only pulled away when Hyejin cursed loulfy.
“SHIT she has a broken rib!” Dr. Park said and went to check on her immediately while Areum dragged an apologising Yuchan away.
After a few minutes and a pain relief shot, Hyejin was able to tell an almost close to tears Yuchan to shut up. That was when he looked at the doctor and gasped.
“Junhee hyung?”
Dr. Park looked equally surprised to see Chan and his eyes comically widened which Hyejin would have found funny if she was not in so much pain.
“You know him?” Areum asked and Chan nodded.
“He recently joined this hospital, about six months ago. He works with Donghun hyung and Sehyoon hyung. We all know each other.” As if a light bulb went over his head, “aah noona, I might have left Donghun hyung a message about your accident since he wasn’t picking up his phone.” He said and Hyejin groaned while Areum snickered.
“He’s gonna throw a fit when he gets here.” Areum said and Yuchan rubbed his head.
“He was supposed to be in a surgery. He must have gotten free about 15 minutes ago.” Dr. Park said and as if on cue, the door slammed open and an angry Donghun walked in.
“WHAT THE HELL CHO HYEJIN?!!” and the girl in question just whimpered in the bed.
“Hyung hyung! It was a hit and run case. She is fine now.” Dr. Park said and Hyejin shot him a small smile.
Donghun looked at her on the bed and gave a long stare to Dr. Park. “Which part of her looks fine to you?” and at that Dr. Park went silent.
“I’m fine. I really am.” Hyejin whispered and Donghun ran his hands through his hair.
“I’m sorry Junhee. I didn’t mean to take it out on you.” And Dr. Park, or Junhee, nodded.
Donghun went and sat beside her bed on the stool and waved at Junhee to give him the report.
After analysing it, Hyejin could see the frustration on his face. “I’m gonna kill that person who did this.”
The door opened again and Byeongkwan and Sehyoon walked in and Hyejin merely groaned.
“If I could, I would love to hide my face right now but since I can’t, why is everyone coming here? Don’t you guys work here? Go, do something!” she said, waving at them to go away with her good hand.
Chan filled Byeongkwan and Sehyoon in what happened while Donghun fretted over her and Areum seemed to enjoy that. Junhee on the other hand just awkwardly stood at a corner until he remembered something.
“Uhh Miss. Cho, you should update your emergency contact to someone who can actually come at emergency time.” Junhee said and Donghun looked up at Hyejin.
“Who is it?” he asked and before Hyejin could say anything, Areum spoke up, “it’s Sejun. He said he won’t come apparently on being called.”
Junhee sensed Donghun was going to yell again so he intercepted. “No that was not what happened. We called the number and the person said he was out of the state so he won’t be able to come then, but he offered to give us the number of her family but by then the girls came and they gave us the number of Miss. Kim so we told him not to.”
The room was silent for a while and only Hyejin cleared her throat and mumbled something that wasn’t audible to anyone else. Then Donghun got up and picked up her phone from the side table and after a few minutes handed it back to her.
“I’m your emergency contact now.”
She rolled her eyes at him and mumbled a small thank you to him.
“But hyung, you don’t always pick up your phone due to meetings and surgeries. Wouldn’t I be better?” Chan said and Donghun looked perplexed.
“Maybe..” he trailed off and then picked her phone back up again.
“It's Chan now but I’m number one speed dial. And Chan, call me first if anything happens alright?” Donghun said and Chan gave him a thumbs up.
“You guys do know this probably won’t happen again right? Accidents are rare.” Hyejin said but Donghun’s glare shut her up.
Junhee felt like he was intruding in a personal moment so he tried to sneak away quietly until Donghun called for him.
“Jun, you got any dinner plans tonight?” and he said no.
“Cool. You want to grab dinner here? Or you want to go with your fangirls?” he said and Junhee heard Chan and Kwan snickering and he rolled his eyes at them.
“Fine. I’ll be here.”
~
A week went past and rumours were everywhere whenever Junhee went. Rumours that the patient in room 404 has something definitely going on with Dr. Lee. And she was close to both Dr. Kim Sehyoon and Dr. Kim Byeongkwan because they both have crashed in her room too. Dr. Park is her doctor and the medical student who sometimes interned here, Kang Yuchan went around calling her noona. The whole staff was jealous of her.
Junhee entered her room to check on her and was about to ask her how she was when he saw her on her phone with Donghun fast asleep with his head on her bed in a chair. Hyejin gave him a big smile and he smiled back. Even if Donghun would not leave her alone for a single night, Junhee would spend his breakfasts with her and sneak in his lunches to her room. It started initially with her asking him to have lunch with her on her third day. When he asked her why, she said she wasn't used to eating alone. He was one of those who preferred eating alone rather than the doctor’s cafeteria because the staff was annoying or In Donghun’s office but something in him made him agree to eat with her. The other doctors were busy but they would eat with her too whenever they could.
“I have been meaning to ask, can I try walking? I feel like my other leg is sore too now.” She complained and he laughed.
“let’s try that. Come on.” He said while keeping away his report pad and she looked at the time and said no.
“I had no clue how late it had gotten. You must be tired too, I don't want to be a bother.” She said and Junhee shook his head.
“it's no bother. I was anyway about to go home later. I can happily spare a couple of minutes for you.” He said and she nodded, trying hard to hide the flattered smile threatening to spill.
He came closer to her and bent over her slightly, to help her sit up. When she sat up, he gave her a hand and placed one hand behind her back to support her as she stood up for the first time in a week.
She groaned and he quickly looked at her to see her smile.
“It hurts slightly but feels so nice. I was starting to think I’ll forget how to walk at this rate.” She said and he chuckled as he supported her with a hand on her waist and helped her walk to the balcony. Junhee pulled a chair for her in case she needed to sit down while she leaned on the railing.
“I forgot how pretty Seoul looks at night.” she whispered and he nodded in agreement.
“A lot of things which are extremely pretty in daylight look a different kind of breathtaking at night.” He said while looking at her and she smiled at the sky. He had to accept she had grown on him. And he would be lying to himself if he said he hadn't started to have a soft spot for her.
They spent hours on the balcony till her foot started aching and he insisted on her going back in. But she was stubborn, as he was warned, and she decided to just sit. At the end, they came back to the room at 3 in the morning and he decided he’ll just stay at the hospital when she asked him to stay on the couch. Before he could protest, instead of her bed, she sat on the couch and patted the space next to her. Resigning, he pushed a small stool for her to keep her foot on and took place beside her. Eventually she snuggled to him because she had started to feel sleepy and he was telling his dumb heart to calm down because the last thing he wanted was her to know what he has started to feel for her.
The next morning, he woke up with a sore neck and a Donghun staring at him with a weird look in his eyes who was carrying Hyejin to the bed. “What happened last night?” he asked when he saw Junhee waking up.
“She wanted to try walking.” he answered. He could have added that how they ended up spending almost 4 hours in the balcony talking and then snuggled up at the couch but he was sure the last part was witnessed by Donghun himself. The weird look in Donghun’s gaze unnerved him enough to not lounge in her room but to leave to the lockers. It was after freshening up when he was standing in front of the staff room, about to enter, did he hear the nurses gossipping.
“That patient in Room 404..” one started.
“What happened now? Did we lose more doctors to her?” another asked and Junhee wanted to leave but at the same time he wanted to listen.
“I’m like 99% sure she’s seeing Dr. Lee. You know Sua? She was with him when he checked his voicemail and ran off for the very first time, the day she came to the hospital? Since then I don't think he has left the hospital to even go home. More than 3 nurses have seen him leaving her room in the morning. Even both Dr. Kim Sehyoon and Byeongkan have visited her multiple times a day. So that's probably something right?” she ended.
“Doesn't that mean Dr. Park is still single?” another said and Junhee rolled his eyes as he turned around.
“But i saw him leaving her room too today.” someone piped in and Junhee stilled. He was very cautious while leaving but he guessed someone still saw huh.
“No waay! He probably went to check on her. He's her doctor after all.”
There were some sounds of agreement and suddenly Junhee craved the cafeteria’s coffee. He was trudging himself there. He hadn't slept much and his hurting neck was not helping much either.
“Hyung?” he heard and stopped to turn around and see Yuchan waving at him.
“Where were you going?” he asked and Junhee mumbled a small “cafeteria.”
“I was going there too. Noona likes the coffee from there so I thought I'll take some for her.” he answered and he nodded.
“Is she up?” Junhee asked.
“I don't know..is she not? I came to the cafeteria first.” Chan said.
“She was asleep when I left.” Junhee said absentmindedly, placing his order of coffee. He turned around to see Yuchan smirking and wiggling his brows at him. “Left huh?”as he laughed at Junhee’s face slowly turning red and placed the order of coffee for himself and Hyejin.
“Shut up.” Junhee grumbled, taking a too big gulp of the hot coffee and swearing afterwards. Chan gave him his cold coffee for a sip and Junhee took it. “Noona likes cold coffee. And she really likes it from here.” he said conversationally and Junhee raised an eyebrow at her.
“Buy her next time. You’ll get an excuse to talk to her.” Chan said, trying hard not to smile.
“I don't need an excuse. We talked a lot last night.” Junhee grumbled and almost jumped when Chan loudly shouted, “AHA!”
“WHAT?” Junhee also shouted and then apologised to the startled people around.
“I knew something must have happened. You look sleep deprived even more than when you're done with your 15 hours+ surgeries. How long did you stay up?” he asked, extremely interested.
“Till 3..” he mumbled and Chan let out a high pitched giggle.
“Ask her out hyung! She obviously likes you too if she stayed up with you. Who asked who?” chan asked excitedly.
"She wanted to try walking but then she said it's late and I insisted so we just..ended up in the balcony till then.” he said, completely concentrated on his coffee as Chan giggled. “That's so cute hyung!” and Junhee smiled. Listening Someone close to him saying that made him happy. 10 times happier than the almost glare he received from Donghun hyung that morning.
As if the god heard him talking about him, Donghun passed them in the hallway and Chan waved at him too. He returned the wave but left giving Junhee a weird look, Junhee swore he felt a shiver run down his spine.
"What was that about?" Chan asked Junhee and he shrugged.
"Hyung has been like that since the morning."
"Why? Did he catch you in some compromising position or what?” chan asked, close to laughing as junhee rolled his eyes at him and then stilled.
“WHAT? Really hyung?” chan stopped as he saw junhee looking away after he stopped.
“It wasn't compromising per se. Just.. we were sleeping..together..on the couch.. Probably cuddling..” Junhee trailed off, his voice lowering itself every word.
“OHMYGOD HYUNG!” he yelled as he slapped his arm and started going to her room, shaking with laughter.
“Chan-ah” junhee said and chan turned around to see junhee standing frozen in the middle of the corridor and chan went back to him.
“Does donghun hyung like Hyejin?”
Chan sighed. “I think you should talk to Donghun hyung.”
~
There were three rapt knocks on Donghun’s office and he looked up. It was his breaktime and he was kind of wishing for no emergency but he asked them to come in anyway - you gotta do what you gotta do.
He saw Junhee peeking in and his mood slightly dampened. He honestly had nothing against the younger doctor - it was just his closeness with Hyejin and her talking non stop about him that was getting to him. But maybe he was overreacting - as Sehyoon reminded him a few minutes ago when he told him.
“You’re being dumb. Stop glaring at the boy. i know how scary it can be to be on the receiving end of your glares so please let Junhee live, we actually like him and so does Hyejin apparently.”
Donghun grumbled at it. “I don't like it.”
Sehyoon sighed. “She''s not a kid Donghun. She’s bound to date and all.”
“But her ex was a dick. What if..” he trailed off and saw as Sehyoon rolled his eyes at him.
“1- we know Junhee is not like that. We have known him for over 6 months Donghun. He has never been even remotely rude to someone nor gave anyone any false hope, no matter how much every nurse quite literally is ready to fall on her feet for him.
2- you need to stop being salty over Sejun. They ended up mutually. Yes Hyejin was hurt but it's bound to happen in relationships. Even she doesn't hate him. Let her grow Donghun-ah.”
Donghun knew he was in the right to be asking Sehyoon - he was the man you go to for perfect and a little bit blunt advice. Didn't mean he liked hearing it.
“fine.”
“Junhee, come on in.”
~
Junhee’s legs were slightly trembling when he knocked on the door he had previously opened unabashedly and entered like it was his own. He heard a tired “come in” and he peeked in. He saw how Donghun’s face slightly tightened as he saw him but he still waved him in.
“Junhee, come on in.”
“Hyung..” he trailed off as he fidgeted behind the chair in front of Donghun who raised an eyebrow at him and signaled at him to sit down. Junhee was mulling in his head as he took the seat about where to start when he heard Donghun sigh and looked up at him with wide eyes.
“Junhee-ya, I have to apologise for being so..rude since the morning. It wasn't my place to be and maybe I overreacted. I don't suddenly not like you or anything, it's just that..” he trailed off as he ran a hand through his hair to show his frustration.
“You’re over protective over Hyejin?” Junhee offered and Donghun nodded.
“Yes. that. I know I should not be like this but I can't help it.” he said again, rubbing his face now. Junhee could see a slight redness on his cheeks showing how embarrassed the older was and he couldn't help but chuckle. Donghun looked up at it.
“You’re not mad at me, are you?” the older asked and Junhee waved his hands.
“No! Why would I be? I thought you were!” and then they both started laughing at the absurdity of the situation.
When they both had calmed down enough, did Junhee gain enough courage to ask what has been bothering him since the morning.
“Hyung..” he said and Donghun looked up at him.
“Can i ask why you’re so protective over Hyejin though?” he asked instead of asking him if he liked her. He thought that was too rude.
“Aah it's a long story..” Donghun said as he looked at the clock on the wall. They had half an hour for the break to be over.
“But we have time so..” he said and trailed off and cleared his throat.
“We umm.. Met when we were kids. To be exact she was born when I was like 4. Our mother’s were childhood friends - my mother and her parents grew up in the same orphanage. Her parents got into an accident when she was about 10. She had been living with us since them. When i moved here to seoul, she insisted on following me a few years later and my mother sat me down and made me promise her that i will never let anything hurt her. I just, she's like my younger sister and I can't see her getting hurt so I guess I'm just very over protective huh?” he ended with a chuckled and Junhee was blown away.
He had considered a lot of things since the morning - unrequited feelings from Donghun’s side taking the top spot. Never had he considered that he would come to know that Hyejin was almost a sister to Donghun. He felt his cheeks reddening, he was embarrassed.
“I--i was not expecting that.” he finally spoke and Donghun chuckled.
“What did you think?”
“That you liked her.” he whispered in the silent room and prayed for the ground to open up and swallow him when he heard Donghun laugh loudly.
“Her? Hyejin? NO JUNHEE she’s like my baby sister!”he said while laughing and Junhee felt himself reddening more.
“I know that NOW!” Junhee shouted and Donghun laughed some more.
“Oh god i’ll never let you forget this.” Donghun finally said and Junhee looked away.
“I'm sure you won't.”

“You sure took your sweet time to come back huh?” Junhee jumped at the voice and turned around wide eyed to look at Hyejin sitting up in her bed. He thought she was asleep.
“Where were you the whole day?” she asked as she tried to look at the dinner he was setting up for both of them at the coffee table.
“Been..busy?” he answered it and she laughed at it. He didn't sound too sure of himself but she didn't call him out on it.
She went to the edge of the bed and made grabby hands at him as he laughed and went to her, trying to make his face not turn pink.
“Oooh it feels like Donghun oppa ordered food for me haha. They’re all my favourite stuff.” she said as he helped her sit on the couch as she looked at the food.
“Well he did help me choose the menu..” Junhee said as he avoided her eyes.
“Oh? What's the occasion?” she asked, trying to make eye contact with him. Had he looked up at her, he would have seen the slight pink dusting her cheeks but alas, he was too busy in his head to witness it.
“I wanted to ask you something.” he said and looked at the food when she poked his shoulder for him to look at her. Surprised he did and then she grasped his face between her hands and squished his face.
“What are you doing?” Junhee asked, his voice coming out weird because of her squishing his face and she giggled.
“I have wanted to do this for a while. And also you were avoiding looking at me so..ask what you wanted to ask me?”
All he could do was stare at her face and give up on even trying to calm his racing heart down. He mentally cheered himself that he could do it and raised his hands to catch hers and pull them away. Still holding her hands, he placed them on his lap and took a deep breath.
“Hyejin-ah.. After you get discharged and all..can I umm.. Can I take you on a date?”

3 months later

“Can i help you - oh. Miss. Cho, Dr. Lee is not in today. It's his day off.” the receptionist said, a slight wariness in her tone that Hyejin chose to ignore.
“Oh I know. I'm here to see someone else though.” she said as she looked at her phone which beeped with a message and smiled. She will thoroughly enjoy it.
“NOONA!!” a loud yell cut through the peaceful ambience of the hospital as an excited Kang Yuchan ran to her and hugged her as she heard Junhee and Byeongkwan and even Sehyoon laughing in the background. She looked at them to see a few of the nurses and staff also looking at her with a tight lipped smile and BOY was she enjoying it.
“Chan-ah” she said as she ruffled his hair and started walking towards the others and gave a small hug to Sehyoon and Byeongkwan. Byeongkwan had a glint in his eyes meaning he had a rough idea about what was about to happen so she giggled with him.
“How long will you keep me waiting?” Junhee whined and she full on laughed as she went to him and hugged him, tight and nuzzled her face in his neck.
She heard a few gasps from behind and pulled back up to give Junhee a slight peck too. She pulled back only to be pulled in by the man himself as he grabbed her face and kissed her deeply in the middle of the hospital.
The staff that has been bothering him to the point that he had started dreading coming to the hospital, Hyejin had found the perfect solution to their extremely, borderline creepy behaviour - introduce his girlfriend to them. She was hoping it'd make them lose their interest in him or atleast backoff.
He pulled back when Byeongkwan shouted at them in between his laughs and she stared at him, breathless. She was sure she heard At Least one sob from behind her but surprisingly when she turned around, barely any staff was in sight. She was happy.
Amidst the laughter from her friends, she looked down at her phone to see Donghun’s message congratulating her, apparently Byeongkwan had made a video and sent it to him (she would ask him for it later too, it was a video of the staff’s reaction and then leaving) , she felt Junhee wrap his arm around her waist and she felt like even though they met up in some rather fucked up situation, she was happy how it all turned out.
(Admin: Mitzy sorry it took me so long to finish I was busy with finals. Hope you enjoyed seeing A.C.E!)
Junhee is your best friend. If you had told yourself from four years ago that you would be dating him, you probably would have laughed in your own face. It seemed unimaginable to you in the past that you could ever like him, but you do. You probably had for a while, but just refused to admit it. Junhee wraps his arm around your neck resting his head on top of yours from where he is standing behind the couch.
“What are you thinking about?” Junhee asks softly, “I’ve been calling you for a while now.”
“You.” The single word falls from your lips without much of a thought, Junhee lets out a small laugh.
“Really?” He laughs.
He unwraps his arms from around your neck moving around to sit on the couch next to you. He wraps his arm around your shoulder, you lean against him letting out a soft sigh.
“I never would have imagined I would be dating you,” you say softly, lacing your fingers through with his own, “it’s only been a few weeks, but it just feels, unreal,” you trail off.
“I always thought we would end up together.” He pulls his hand away from yours putting his arm around your shoulders instead.
Your eyes lock onto his and you feel frozen in your place. Junhee lets out a small laugh smiling towards you, which you return the smile finally glancing down at the fabric of the couch. Junhee rests his hand on the back of your head stroking your hair gently, you lift your eyes to meet his again, finding it difficult to maintain eye contact with him. He gently pulls you forward, you glance towards his lips before meeting his eyes again, letting your own fall shut the closer your face gets to his. His lips cover yours and move gently, you similarly return the kiss, matching his pace.
You grab onto his forearm, leaning closer to him. He smiles into the kiss, pulling away shortly after.
“I’ve liked you for a long time,” he near whispers.
Jun pins you to the wall. He’s hot and glistening with sweat. You feel the heat of his body slowly warming yours. Your hands make thier way up his shirt, his back wet and hot to the touch. Jun lightly kisses your neck while biting at your collarbone. His hands glide along your thigh gripping them and pulling into him. Your lips meet again, tounges intertwined with each other.
“Jun..” You finally gasp out.
He says nothing, he continues to kiss down your neck to your exposed chest.
“Jun..” you say again pushing him back.
He looks up at you with a smirk lifting your other leg and pushes you aganist the wall.
“Don’t worry, we have time”
