“Do you want to talk to them?”
Her voice is quiet. Non judgemental, she stares at her with calm acceptance. No matter her answer, Junko will support it. Mikan hesitates, “What do you think I should do?”
“That’s up to you,” she assured. “I don’t think Koizumi or Mioda meant to hurt you, at least. If it matters to you, I think they care for you.”
“Do they?” she wonders with a wavering voice. “Or does Ibuki only like my body, does Mahiru only like my pitiful?”
Junko twitched. “I don’t know,” she answers, “And neither do you. You have to talk to them to get those answers.”
Mikan bit at her nail bed, until she could taste blood. Gently, Junko extracted her hand from her mouth. “None of that, Mikan.” she denied. “I’ll be with you the whole time. You won’t have to do it alone.”
[Junkan Week Side:Hope, Day Two: Repair.]
“I'm sorry, Mikan-senpai.”
And she did look it. Guilty, apologetic, as if she was at fault. Mikan faltered, watery eyes lifting up to her.
“No, don't apologize,” she murmured, “You thought it, so you said it. There's nothing dishonest about that.”
“I wish it was different,” she promised her, “I wish they valued you like I valued you, because you deserve better. But… we have face it. They were using you from the start.”
Mikan frowned, once more. Defenses on her tongue, that she swallowed. “Using me…” she echoed, numb and disbelieving. “Were they?”
[Junkan Week Side:Despair, Day Two: Crash.]
Day two of Junkan week!! These two works are meant to contrast each other, with the first about mending a toxic friend dynamic with Junko's support, and the second about Junko manipulating Mikan into severing a genuinely positive relationship. Both Junko's are basically opposites: with the first looking out for Mikan genuinely, and the second cloaking her manipulation in words of care.
