Name: The Raft

Year: 2373

Captain: Overseer Rega Mohl

Background: Junk spacecraft operating in a null zone in the Delta Quadrant. Cobbled together from other ships that have fallen prey to the zone, including Kazon ships. Large tanks on the side are filled with chemical propellants providing rudimentary propulsion, but not enough to escape. Armed with chemically-propelled rockets. Intercepted Voyager when it too stumbled into the zone, its power draining rapidly. Mohl offered them a chance to join them willingly before he took their ship by force. Rockets pounded Voyager until her shields were drained and then most (if not all) of the crew of The Raft boarded smaller ships and attached themselves to Voyager’s hull. There was heavy hand to hand combat but the crew of Voyager delayed the boarding parties long enough to fire a modified torpedo at The Raft aimed at its chemical tanks, destroying it. The shockwave propelled Voyager out of the zone and the pirates were remanded to local custody.

Abu Baker Ibrahim was a self-taught artist and was one of the founder members of Persatuan Pelukis Melayu (Society of Malay Artists, Malaya) that was based in Singapore. His work, “Malacca Gate” is a permanent collection of the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur and at the Kedah State Gallery and the Royal Museum in Alor Setar.
