Joon Hwi's letter to Kang Sol(a)

i would lie awake dreaming to belong in someone's arms

wanting to be in the safest place

yet all i would do is stay away

as their daggers drew on my scars

they knew me the best

but thats what hurt me the most

they knew where it would bleed

and thats where they cut me open

so life ahead was overcast skies

i thought no future existed for me

as the only future i wanted was with them

so life was bleak

people were dancing with the music on

yet all i could do was watch their lives go forward

still stuck with the song that was played on the moment they left me

and there you were

you didnt know anything

but life finally was in motion

the moment you woke me up from a life buried in hindsight

i never thought the mornings were worth waking up to

not until mornings meant another day with you

you kissed all my scars

and the heart that had given some parts of it away,

made itself whole for you again

you didnt know how you lead me home,

but i know in you i found shelter

life made me lose hope,

but in you i found hope in life again.

love was what betrayed me,

but for you ill trust in love again.

What if there was a time in SolHwi canonverse where both of them had significant others already?

and yet, after Sol's (toxic) boyfriend left the party after they fought she found herself comparing that person to her bestfriend, Joon Hwi

of course, nothing happened during the party because Sol is too kind for her own good. But the thoughts of maybe, just maybe, if Joon Hwi was her boyfriend, would they not have these overly egoistic fights?? Would she be happier?

And because of these train of thoughts, she becomes conscious of the man, and Joon Hwi's like "What's wrong with Kang Sol?"

Sol's what ifs haunt her and she breaks up with her boyfriend two days after, after two days of thinking about how she, from the goodness of her own heart, doesn't want to stay in the relationship while thinking about being in another.

And a week later, Joon Hwi breaks up with his girlfriend.

So what's a girl, an incredulously lovestruck girl, gotta do now?

Does the destined one exist?

Why i love SolHwi so much.

For me it does, and it doesn't.

Sure, you meet someone and you have some kind of connection. You have that spark, the kind of conversation that happens through yearning gazes. The kind of pining that either makes you ignore or seek each other. You become intertwined, and fate makes you become unseperable

until it doesn't.

You may have to fight together to get through the day or worse, fight each other, losing sight of what's really at stake.

And then if you separate, it means you both really weren't destined, were you?

The reason why the logic of fate irks me is that it becomes an excuse for people. It becomes your logic for "But we were fated for each other." resulting in tolerance, or "Because we weren't" becomes an excuse for breaking something but in reality they were just too lazy at fixing something they deemed not of importance anymore.

Fate should not be the focus, your efforts should be. And I think this is the reason why SolHwi enamores me so much.

How Joon Hwi and Sol's personalities fit so much, it should be enough right? But no it wasn't. Joon Hwi made an effort, always, to find time for her, to wait, to assure her, to help her and Sol, just as she does to everyone, defends him without an ounce of suspicion and even declares to root for him in place of his only family. They didn't need to be together to be destined, they already are, even if it was platonic (tho ill argue its not). In the show, you see them just making efforts for each other without really asking for anything in return. We know of Joon Hwi's good deeds for Sol but Sol also, from the goodness of her heart, unabashedly did things for Joon Hwi that no one else dared to do. I love how there wasn't a spark, nor overly romantic scenes but it was just them, being there for each other.

I love them so much, with all of my heart. And i will always aspire to have a caring Joon Hwi, or a protector Sol A in my life.
