For the writer ask meme/game: 4. Do you have any writing habits/rituals? 21. What aspect of your writing are you most proud of? 48. Do you prefer to write skimpy drafts and flesh them out later, or write too much and cut it back?
4. Do you have any writing habits/rituals?
Hm...I mean I have to be sitting at my brother’s desk (I currently work in my brother’s old bedroom because the outlet in my room blew out, so my dad and I moved my work and personal computers over to my brother’s old room). I prefer writing on my computer since I can type pretty fast.
Music is optional—sometimes if I need to focus a lot on writing, then I might turn off the music. Otherwise, I keep something instrumental playing in the background, but it can’t be a song I played in orchestra because I can and will play the air violin along with it, which doesn’t help my writing :)
Also, definitely helps if I have a glass of water on hand. I do talk to myself when I have to think deeply about stuff, and I often write notes on what I’m writing. Some of these are reminders, others are just things I need to keep track of, especially for multi-chapter fics.
I don’t outline for oneshots—usually I write it on the fly, with a general idea of where I’m going with the fic. It works out most of the time xD
For multi-chapter fics, I’m the exact opposite. My document for Keeper of the Force has like 5 pages of notes at the very end that I’m constantly referring to while writing. I also have a timeline on my Notes application that I’m constantly updating as I write.
When I start a new chapter, I first write a basic scene by scene outline. This is where I identify the POV character for each scene and then come up with a quick paragraph of what needs to happen in the scene and anything important that needs to be established in that scene.
Once the outline is done, I start writing. Once I have a draft, I reread and edit, and then that’s it!
...There’s an answer somewhere in there, right? I think I got a bit carried away with answering this xD
21. What aspect of your writing are you most proud of?
I’m really proud of the way I can convey emotions in a few words. I feel like that’s what people like about my writing, so I try to let that shine without overdoing it with anything that can detract from that experience.
48. Do you prefer to write skimpy drafts and flesh them out later, or write too much and cut it back?
Hmm....I think I lean a bit more towards the first one, but I am a concise writer as it is. I try to flesh things out when I edit, but often on reread, I feel like the amount of detail is good, so it really depends on the scene and what I’m trying to communicate to the reader.

For the WiP guessing game: tears or never (as my back up word lol, I tend to always choose words for this that aren't in someone's wip :p)
From Chapter 9 of Shifting Shadows:
Anakin nodded slowly, and Obi-Wan sighed, putting his face in his hands. It was a rare display of emotion from him—the Obi-Wan Anakin remembered would never openly show this much misery, this much defeat.
(Fanfiction WIP Guessing Game)
For the collaborative 6 sentence fic starter: "So, which of you would like to tell me what happened, and which of you would then tell me the truth?"
“So, which one of you would like to tell me what happened, and which one of you would then tell me the truth?”
Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow, taking in the messy state of his usually immaculate kitchen.
Smoke curled out of the oven’s vents, a sweet, burning odor following along in its wake. The floor, counters, the tables, and—Force forgive him—the cupboards were somehow all coated in a thick layer of sticky white flour.
In front of him, Anakin made a rather authentic impression of a fish, mouth opening and closing rapidly as he floundered about for a response. In contrast, Ahsoka rolled her eyes before smiling awkwardly at Obi-Wan, shrugging a shoulder.
“Surprise?” she said, flour-covered face stretching into a sheepish grin.
(send me a sentence, and I’ll write the next five!)

(re: this meme. Thank you for playing! And, er, sorry for the delay; it’s been a weird week)
*gleeful bounces* Ok, so! At one point I picked up a RexObi bingo card because that seemed like a neat challenge, started a whole lot of stories, and then Life got annoying and I haven’t finished any of them. Bethatasitmay, my chosen line for bingo had one stumper: Fake Relationship. It’s just not a thing that usually does anything for me, so I kept poking at it because while I could swap it out, I wanted the challenge.
Then I registered that I do very well with the tumbl meme where people send random combos of tropes and I have to mash them together. And here I had a whole bunch of random tropes! So I set my own personal challenge to use ALL the tropes in a row/column in one fic, because no one said I couldn’t and why not?
Which led me to smashing together: Fake Relationship, Undercover Missions, Alternate Universe, Body Swap, and Force Bonds. Obviously, Obi-Wan would have to body swap across universes into one where he was a Sith, and Sith!Obi-Wan was on some kind of undercover mission with Rex where they had to pretend to be in a relationship something something Force Bonds makes for better spies. Easy! :D
