i got the idea from you and lio actually! using science diet sensitive skin & stomach and it is working fab so far. my parent’s dog is on the perscription version, i/d, which i would give boone if i ran out of his normal food, and i noticed he always did great on it so i decided to give the non-rx version a shot when i remembered you had said it’s what agreed with lio.

oh geez ofc i left the list at work, but i’m pretty sure the 3 i decided to start with were ender’s game, and then there were none (agatha christie), and a tree grows in brooklyn. she recommended lots and lots, but i told her i would start with three and those ones appealed to me. i’m currently reading ready player one (which i hate, but kids seem to like) and a confederacy of dunces (for me, not for the kids lol). this is the same colleague who recommended the absolutely true diary of a part-time indian, which was decent and very kid-friendly.

I was raised as an only child in my great-grandparents household, but I actually have three brothers. I’m the oldest and only girl. One of my brothers was given up for adoption to a couple who couldn’t conceive, and he actually reached out to me via social media last year. The other two I know and have relationships with, Anthony who is 4 years younger than me, and Kenny, my littlest brother.

Sasha is not a barker.  I could probably count the number of times on my fingers that she has barked since we got her 8 months ago.  She prefers to communicate with ears, tail, and big puppy eyes :)

Hi! I remember awhile ago you posted something about doing the Teach for America program (sorry if this wasn't you... Feel free to ignore this message). I just came across it in my curriculum design textbook & was wondering if wouldn't mind sharing your experience. What was covered in your pre service courses? Would you do it again? Is there anything you would change about the program? I'm just curious! We have teach for Canada up here but I've never met anyone who's gone through it. Thank you!

Hi!  Yes, I was a TFA corps member - I’m an alumna now in my third year of teaching at my placement school.  At “institute” we had a week-long crash course on lesson planning and classroom management, and then we taught summer school classes for 4 hours a day for the next 4 weeks.  It’s a lot of learning on your feet with the help of veteran teachers at the school as well as TFA alums working as “corps member advisors.”  I wouldn’t say that I felt prepared necessarily when I started actually teaching in my classroom, but at the same time basically every PD I’ve had in my district I’ve been like ughhhh I learned this at institute, again??? So I feel like they do a good job with at least the basics of it.  Can you really feel prepared to be a teacher without ACTUALLY being a teacher anyway?? I don’t know that I would do it again, the first year especially was actual hell, but I LOVE my students and the community I ended up in - enough to stay for a third year past my two year commitment.  And it has changed me as a person in ways that I cannot even begin to express.  It’s not for everyone but it has been such a valuable experience for me.  I’m glad that I did it.
