Alone Together
Agreeing to the first sanctioned dream-meeting with Elegy was... awkward. Embarrassing. Aletta had recovered from the initial conversation enough to be smiley about it, but internally, she could not shake the uncomfortable sensation of being seen. Skipper was insightful. He could not possibly be ignorant to how much Elegy had come to mean to Aletta, what all of her effort was amounting to... She wasn't ready to lose that privacy.
It wasn't shame. There were just so many variables, so many paths to heartbreak. She didn't want people to pity her.
She wanted to know if Elegy felt the same; but she also just wanted to spend time together. So many weeks had gone by trapped underneath storm clouds. This felt like a new chapter and she was tired of sad beginnings.
The nervous buzz in her chest couldn't be dispelled, though. She woke up in their dream space with it. She found herself standing, and quickly desiring a distraction, so she brushed off her legs and sat down. What would be nice and relaxing? Maybe something outdoors. Luscious green grass spiraled out from beneath her into a contained disc. Aletta put her hand in it; Elegy had said he wanted to go somewhere with nice grass once.
