Carver was falling asleep even as Merrill carded her fingers through his hair, until she asked, "Do twins have twins, do you think?" Carver couldn't parse the question, "like... is it passed on? I don't think so... I honestly don't know" Merrill made a small noise of assent, "well I was trying to decide which to say, but we are either having one baby, or two babies, depending."

Loghain watched Cailan play with the litter of Mabari puppies and tried not to show his worry. He heard himself tell the boy about how loyal, steadfast, and true the dogs would be, and tried not to think of himself as an old wardog, waiting toothlessly for his master to return. If Maric thought he would patiently wait while he could be in mortal peril, he did not know the temperament of a Mabari.

Sometimes, Isabela wished that she was the sort of woman who could sleep without a dagger under her pillow, but the thought of waking up without the cold metallic reassurance at her fingertips made her blood thump in her ears, and not in the fun way. She knew Zevran felt the same, sleeping in the same state of constant readiness, and when they were together, she thought she might know how it was to sleep happily helpless. She trusted him to protect them both from unknown night threats, just as he trusted her, and it was as if two daggers became none at all.

"About as common as witches turning into toads," joked Hawke, leaning against the arm of her chair to peer over her shoulder. Dagna felt as though she had been holding her breath for weeks when she finally exhaled as the Inquisitor’s party came through the gates, the Abyssal high dragon’s head in tow.

“Worried they wouldn’t come back, were you?” researcher Minaeve said with a sardonic smirk.

“Oh no, I wasn’t worried,” Dagna replied, suddenly light and carefree when she spotted Sera’s plaideweave armor, “just lightly concerned.”

Adaar accidentally scraped her teacup's bottom on the saucer, and the sound set her even more on edge than she had been before. Ever since she realized she was falling for Josephine, she lost her ability to be calm, witty, and effortlessly flirtatious around her. Josephine appeared not to notice, only offered more shortbread and a (beautiful) smile.

1,14,18 for alllll three D&D characters!

1. What influenced or inspired the creation of this character?

Anaiah: The campaign she’s in has a lot of demigods and powerful casters, and I wanted to play someone utterly normal. Small human girl, self-taught, grew up on the streets, fighting along big players to restore order because she wants to make sure they don’t forget about the actual people in their pursuit to appease the gods. I like the idea of playing a fairly normal person, in over her head. Her mouse also needed a Jewish name, and Hannah helped me decide on Samuel, which was also a reference to Dishonored (bonus points because he’s also a mouse). 

Zira: Sister needed a tank for her campaign, and I am gay for Celica from FE: Echoes. Always toyed with the idea of Celica’s route witnessing what happened to her, particularly Sonya, who’s got a backstory full of that same horror. And I wanted to play a retainer. Worked out perfectly, because it’s a very FE-styled campaign.

On the non-backstory side, I’ve always wanted to play an aggressively positive character, who’s good-aligned to a T, but whose drive stems from an intense desire to internalize this positivity and move on with her life. She’s a healing girl.

Lorelei: We were gonna play a drop in campaign and the sister and I decided on playing twins. The only race that worked well (slash didn’t fuck us up) for the classes we both wanted to play was good ol Tiefling, and from the wild magic/barb combo and the high charisma/intense interest in weapons bit we came up with the idea of a merchant/blacksmith duo, and wild magic proved as good a cause for adventuring as any, since we could easily attribute the burning of the shop to an accidental fireball. 

14. What is their favorite holiday?

Anaiah: Anything that had some sort of entertainment in the streets, or food-based festivals. Modern day, she’d be all about Purim.

Zira: A spring festival, probably. Lots of flowers, everyone’s happy that winter’s past, things are growing, there’s dancing, and it’s generally full of hope.

Lorelei: Most likely, something where gifts are traditionally exchanged, because she ran a weapons and magic shop. They’d get more customers, she’d get to celebrate, and it was good all around!

18. What is their favorite spell or method of attack?

Anaiah: She uses a chakram that she’s gotten a couple solid hits in with, but she prefers her ~fancy sword~.

Zira: Even though she’s a caster now, she still prefers her sword. That’s what she was trained in, and she’s damn good at it. That said, she really enjoys a good solid Divine Smite.

Lorelei: Currently, Burning Hands. Less unpredictably destructive than a fireball, but still accomplishes the goal of getting the goblins running at you with swords to stop doing that.

D&D ask meme 1&2, DM 25&26, Players 31&32

1) Favorite character you have played.

That honor has to go to Brother Leonas, “cleric” NPC in our first ever campaign who was actually a warlock. He wasn’t supposed to be all that important (just a snively underling) but APPARENTLY the portrait I drew of him was hilarious, and he quickly became a player favorite and RPing that kind of bullshit sanctimonious was actually incredibly fun. I had a list of dumb completely made-up platitudes that we came up with at 2am that I’d apply to literally every situation.

In terms of PC, I’ve never actually run all that many PCs, but I do love my character for my current 5e campaign (spunky human rogue with a pet mouse named samuel, cooking disaster).

2) Your favorite character that someone else has played.

mmm. Hm. I can’t choose favorites because my players are all here, BUT I think that has to go to Starr’s fucking anakin skywalker mage who he managed to sneak by me until another player filled me in, just because he did such an incredible job of it.

25) What have your players done that you never could have planned for?

OKAY SO. First campaign ever. Wizard by the name of Jobiah Philliums. He was somehow convinced there were three separate groups of assassins after him (there was one, but they weren’t any of the ones he’d actually believed were after him, funnily enough).

One in question he believed was sent by the party’s warlock, who they’d blamed a mutiny (that they initiated) on. So he went off trying to find her at various brothels within the city (she moonlit as a prostitute), but the problem was, she freelanced (he didn’t know this). He spent every single cent of his coin on bribes for the matrons before finally deciding to “take matters into his own hands.”

That matter being, hire someone to go home with him to scope the house out for assassins.

Now, you’d think he’d ask perhaps the NPCs at Ye Old Local Tavern whom the party helped in the past, or look for some capable fighter, but no. His solution, with a -2 charisma modifier, was to grab a random child off the street in the elven quarter in the middle of the day, ask if he wanted to “come home with him to pet his rabbit” (he had a spectral rabbit familiar, but he absolutely phrased this as poorly as possible), he kept failing persuasion rolls to reassure the now concerned passersby, and we had to pull a fucking deus ex machina to prevent him being burned alive by an angry mob.

All over imaginary assassins. 

26) What was your favorite scene to write and show your characters?

MMMMM hmmm well I really enjoyed the reveal of the final antagonist at the end of my DA campaign. That whole session, from the dramatic battle in the temple to the conversation between the spirits and the ex-tranquil mage, to the potentially heartbreaking portion I never had to use for the reluctant betrayal of an ally, that was a really good time to write and I had a lot of fun playing it!

31) What is your favorite class? Favorite Race?

HHHRrrRRR I’ve always wanted to play a Jewish tempest cleric, but I also have a fond spot for wild magic sorcerers. Also the californian in me loves druids. Race-wise, I’m not sure I have a favorite? I don’t like to be small, though, because I’m very short in real life, so I don’t see myself really playing a halfling or a gnome in the near future.

32) What role do you like to play the most? (Tank/healer/etc?)

Mmmmm probably utility, with some combination of DPS in there. I do like healing too, though!
