Jutoh annoyances severe enough to make me stop using it.

I'd just started using Jutoh 2 on a mac to compile my ebooks. I managed to work my way around the interface, menu and mouse options and actually get all the text of the book in there. And then I got stumped. One of my proof-reading activities is to get my mac to read the book back to me. Having a droning computer-voice read your text back is an excellent way to test for typos, homonyms and misplaced words. And there is no way to get the text in Jutoh 2 read by the computer! I mean, what's the point in taking away all the features that the operating system provides?

Creating a table of contents

Jutoh can help you create a table of contents page and Epub 'navigation map', to whatever heading depth you wish.

You can use a wizard to tell Jutoh what headings to search for and how to format the resulting table of contents. In Adobe Digital Editions, the table of contents might appear as follows, with the Epub navigation map shown on the left.

Designing covers in Jutoh

Jutoh has a little editor for your book covers, and a selection of colourful templates.

You can customize your cover using a simple system of text and picture boxes; your book metadata can be inserted automatically using keywords such as %TITLE%, or you can type text directly into a text box.

If you don't want to use the designer, just supply your own image.

What is Jutoh?

Jutoh is an ebook creation tool - import your file or type your content, select an output format such as Epub or Mobipocket, press Compile, and out pops a file ready to be uploaded to ebook distributions sites, such as Amazon, Smashwords, iBooks, and so on.
