[ Jystei | The Sapphire | Art done by @chubymi ]
"It's dead." Shin said, sitting on a nearby rock. No, it was a chunk of the castle. With a little perspective, Jystei would find herself staring at one of the heads. The ground immediately surrounding its slightly agape maw turned to glassy magma. It was mindbogglingly enormous. Subtly wrong in a dozen different ways. Something wearing a dragon's form as a suit and doing very impressive job until one looked for longer than a few minutes.
The world around her was chaos. Rifts venting elemental energy into the sky, small creatures crawling about the cracks in the earth drawn in from the planes to fumble helplessly in a world of rules and law. Shards of the castle like a thousand fallen teeth for miles in every direction. And five new monument hills to those who wished to see the word as a nihilistic hell where there was no greater meaning when gods could die. Her skin tingled from being this close to the death of something that hadn't been meant to die.
...
There was a brief burst of indistinct sound in Jystei's mind. And a voice. Deeper than the oceans and raw like the serrated edge of broken glass. It spoke once. And then was gone. A phantom pain of an imagined mortal wound.
Let me in.
