Burrowed in his blankets, it took about a minute and a half to de-tangle himself, blinking blearily in the light. The silence of the dorm was complete except for the soft curling and uncurling of his fingers in the sheets.
Insolitus was called a sanctuary—no. A haven. Kevin straightened out his spine and stretched, the click of his bones sending a shudder through his skin. There were creatures of all sorts and everywhere, even demons. He inhaled. So, he might be a weird mutation, but in the very least, he likely wasn’t the only one.
Padding into the kitchen, he eyed the coffee-maker, but jerked down a plain cup for water instead. It was probably a bad idea to make himself sick on the first (real) day. He turned on the water and missed the cup completely.

Standing at the sink in only his boxers, he squinted and moved the cup until he could hear it filling, imagining himself running headlong into the door on his way out with his shirt on backward and mismatched socks. At this rate, it wasn’t inconceivable.
Yeah. He could do this.
Bring it on.
