Kleinlokomotiven für den Rangier-Betrieb / Small locomotives for shunting

Viele Lokomotivführer sammeln auf diesen kleinen Rangierloks Ihre allerersten Erfahrungen.  Köf steht für eine ganze Reihe von Kleinlokomotiven und bedeutet  Kleinlokomotive mit Ölmotor (Dieselmotor) und Flüssigkeitsgetriebe. Diese sind allesamt für den leichten Rangierdienst konzipiert. 

Many locomotive drivers gain their very first experience on these small shunting locomotives.  Köf stands for a whole range of small locomotives and means small locomotive with oil engine (diesel engine) and fluid transmission. These are all designed for light shunting service.

Last Monday was a holiday here in germany and I used the day (and the 9€ ticket to take the train to Erbach and Michelstadt in the Odenwald mountains about 55 km south of Frankfurt, near the state border to Bavaria and Baden-Würtemberg.An old Köf small diesel engine as a monument at Erbach railway station.
