There are three aims of Kerria Academy, an illustrious and prestigious international school located in the north of Hyōgo Prefecture. While it’s known for bot its rich history and its many notable alumni, the academy is especially famous for its focus on literary studies and its rural, almost poetic campus and surroundings.
For a school so deeply ingrained in tradition and its vast and winding histories, it remains to this day surprisingly modern, and many would call it the best option for gifted or talented students from around the world. It offers both a paying route and a large number of scholarship opportunities, due to the governing body’s belief that ‘money should never be a barrier to one’s right to education’ and their need to ‘stop at nothing when it comes to supporting brilliance’.
--Even the brochure was flowered up to sound prestigious and promising.
But coming to such a well pampered academy was something close to a fever dream; especially for the likes of Kai Toshiki. To have been admitted to such a place wasn't entirely impossible, but given his previous reputation, well, it was something short of a jest. He was going to leave most of that life behind, however, and start anew, that was the vow to himself. As someone who wanted to settle down into a more peaceful regimen, Kai was working hard to clean out his soiled ledger and attain a somewhat respectable status again. And though a perfect record wasn't in his best interest, perhaps surrounding himself within the proximity of more civil persons was what he needed most.
Wandering about the campus to get his bearings, Kai barely knew how to navigate to and from the dorm rooms to the actual classes, looking at his schedule almost skeptically. So many of the listed curricula were spread out---he should have planned more accordingly to travel than to academic convenience...
...It's already too much work for all it's worth.
Caught up within the content of the papers in his hands, and so classically turning the corner of a building sharply without any idea of the presence approach before him, Kai collided into that unsuspecting body and sent them rebounding back onto the dusted pavement path, looking down somewhat guiltily. Their belongings were spilling every which way, a tiny, familial looking card fluttering near his scuffed loafers.
"My bad..."
Bending down to pick it up, a Vanguard card as he suspected, he took a good look at it before becoming overwhelmed with a sudden hint of nostalgia.
Wait, this is..?!
