atsuya sits himself down in front of the nightshift doctor, his left arm bandaged and carefully supported by his right. he doesn't bother hiding how much he dreads what's about to happen.
“all right, let's get this over with.”

after asking the waiter for 2 glasses of beer to start with, atsuya quickly skims the menu before handing off the laminated paper to utahime.
“by the way, how's miwa doing at school?”

having assumed the laugh nanami let out was one of agreement to his joke, atsuya is shocked by the other's reply. for a full moment, he can only stare wide-eyed at nanami, his mind replaying the words to make sure he heard it correctly.
“huh? no, that first part was just- i wasn't—” he stammers before cutting himself off. he can feel himself blushing, and it embarrasses him, (to be acting like this, at his age, in response to someone a decade his junior,) which only worsens his blush.
“—don't tease your elders!”

“huh??” the sound tumbles out of his lips as soon as he realizes just exactly where utahime is leading them to, “oi, iori, when you said 'let's continue the party somewhere else', i thought we were going to another bar, not... a karaoke place,” the heaviness with which he utters the last part betrays the dread he feels inside. damn it, he should've suspected something sooner, with how jolly she seems as she's leading the way. he's heard that she loves karaoke—no wonder there. with a voice and singing skill like that, who wouldn't be—but what about him says that he likes it too? or even that he's okay with singing in front of others?
