My Japanese mutual said that grell often references trans celebrities named Ikko and Kaba-Chan but how? I don't have Japanese tv so I don't get the references and my friend cant explain because he only knows basic english. It's ok if you don't have time to reply I'm asking out of curiosity and its not that important. :D
Dear Anon,
I don’t have any TV, so I am afraid I cannot help you here…
All I know is that Ikko and Kaba-chan are indeed transgender women who are fighting for acknowledgement. For as far as I know, all that these three have in common is that they are transgender women, and not taken very seriously by everyone.Other than this, there seems not to be a lot of overlap.
Oh jeez so in a rather unfortunate discovery, it turns out, that in Kamen Rider Wizard's english dubbed broadcast in Singapore, They Actually Edited The Donut Shop Manager Lady Out Of The Series, JUST BECAUSE She Was Played By A Trans Person! So yeah, that really sucks.
That is really sad that Kaba-chan would be just deleted from the entire show. If they had an issue with the series (which they shouldn’t have) they should have just NOT aired it rather than chop it up and erase a character who represents a very unrepresented minority in society.
I don’t know all that much about Singapore other than the stories you hear about their Draconian cleanliness measures, ban on chewing gum and public canings but this just makes me think they are even more regressive than I had heard.
If only I were she!
If you noticed someone similar, that's Kaba-chan! The donut shop manager from KR Wizard! Chased by a dinosaur (or Gabutyra if you're hooked on Kyoryuger.).
Enjoy watching & laugh out loud with this one!
So let's play a game to see if you can tell where the alarm clock is hidden
It won't be easy cuz Jun sure knows where to hide a goddamn alarm clock
With a little help from his friends, of course
And then the guest, Kaba-chan comes in. Unfortunately, he's sharper than expected and figures it out quickly.
Encouraged by Jun's fellow bandmates...
Kaba-chan just had to reach for that hidden spot and claim his win.
...and now I shall got to sleep and look foward to some sweet dreams.
