Started my morning by dominating a round of KabutoSumo against boyfriend over coffee

Played some games last Monday. I think we played some games the week before, but I didn't take pictures and I'm not sure I feel like thinking back that far.

We played our monthly game of Legacy Betrayal. I guess I'll put a spoiler warning somewhere on this post in case you haven't played and want to.

This round takes place about 30 years from the events of the prologue. The relatives of the three people murdered in the house have decided to investigate the mysterious disappearance of their loved ones. Why they waited 30 years to do so, I can't say. But here they are.

I'm not sure they learned what happened. R. thought it would be a good idea to reanimate the corpse she found buried beneath the kitchen. So, our search for answers came to an abrupt halt as we all had to team up to stop R. and her corpse buddy.

M. tried to use his trusty flintlock, but it misfired, causing it to explode, and killing him. My character died, but not before burying all the body parts except the head. J. pulled off a last minute save! Removing the head and getting it buried in one swift action. He was the only surviver.

Apparently, the corpse we buried is still alive and can be heard speaking to this day.

Next up, we played a round of Kabuto Sumo

It's part dexterity game, part abstract strategy game. Maybe it's just a toy. Idk. But it's ridiculous and loads of fun. Players take on the roll of sumo wrestling beetles. On your turn, you take a disk from your inventory and scoot it into the arena to try and knock out other disks and your opponent. Each beetle has special abilities and a special, odd shaped, piece. One is long and looks like a cactus. Another is just really big. One looks like the pincers of a rhinoceros beetle. You get the idea, right?

I knew J. would love it. He's an avid wrestling fan, and loves gimmicky little games like this. It's a fun game and packs more depth than you might imagine. The disks don't always slide the way you think they will. The smallest gap between the pieces can make all the difference. Throw in the odd shaped pieces and things get even trickier to figure out. It's probably best to not overthink it, but I can't help myself.

Lastly, we played Welcome To.

It's a pen and paper game where you fill in numbers on houses in a little suburb. Sounds boring. Looks boring. But it's the kind of puzzle that grabs ahold of you and makes you want to keep trying till you get it right. I absolutely love these types of things. I'll definitely be adding this to my collection soon.

I think that's it for last week. Tomorrow we go and do it again. No idea what we're playing. But I know we'll have fun.
