I’m still going insane over how Diocletian describes his relationship to Kaeria (and of custodes and SoS in general) in Era of Ruin. Also good ole ADB “there was intimacy without sexuality” (genuinely, check how often he’s used this or similar phrasing). But the… soul mate-esque description of the relationship between Diocletian, a man soul-bound to the emperor, and Kaeria, a woman without a soul… that fucks so much.
