Second ever quilt finally completed. This one gave me nothing but problems but I got there in the end.
KAFFE FASSETTE 'A LIFE IN COLOUR' @ LONDON'S FASHION & TEXTILE MUSEUM

Kaffe's retrospective is not for those seeking inspiration in painting and water colour genius. The few of his sketches and paintings dusted around the space are far from inspirational yet they do give an insight to his obsession with colour and where a projects work in textiles would begin from, which in fact would be created with much more thought and detail to form. He says " Textiles with their texture and rich depths of colour, gave me a motivation far beyond my painting." The exhibition is a fully loaded 2 floors of colour and pattern impact from wall hangings, cylindrical yarn-bombing-esque towers to tapestry and woolen jumpers from his later work. Some ranging from quite muted, earthy works to other, very floral and vibrant pieces, mostly definitely inspired by his trip in 1992 to India and China.
