morning fog back in autumn. sometimes the mist would part to reveal a student trudging across the green; i often wondered what people thought when they saw me wearing bright red and yellow even as the days grew colder.

recently finished helen oyeyemi’s WHAT IS NOT YOURS IS NOT YOURS, and it is fantastic. each story feels like a dream and a fairy-tale twisted together, and i love how diverse the characters are. this is a collection that i’ll definitely reread in the future; with the first story alone, i went back to nearly every paragraph to savor each sentence.
