This is a Vilja in Skyrim (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6722) appreciation post because I'm obsessed with this mod right now. (Spoiler warning: I'm about to spoil most of the mod). So, I picked Vilja up because I had done Serana in a different playthrough and I wanted another female character with a romance track. To be entirely honest I struggled a bit with the beginning of this mod because I found her opening quests, where you have to fetch a ton of stuff for her, to be a bit tedious. But then, I realized that they don't have to be done all at once. You can, and should, do other quests while you are gathering things for her. It's super fun to take her on quests because she has a bunch of commentary and random dialogue that ranges from hilarious to incredibly sweet. She can talk to Inigo and they have several fun conversations that vary depending on where they are.

The things that have really gotten me attached to her, however, are her bard quest and her romance quest. One of Vilja's biggest dreams is to become a bard and to do that you can take to a friend of hers for training. Once she has spent a few days with him she can play songs, most of which are based on folk pieces and some of which are unique to the mod. These songs are absolutely beautiful and Emma, the mod creator and Vilja's voice actress, has a wonderful singing voice.

I haven't finished the romance quest yet, but so far it has been very cute. Vilja is very sweet and her romance progresses slowly which makes it feel more realistic and natural. She also makes you a unique armor set when you first start dating which is very pretty. Vilja will date the player regardless of gender, but she does mention to a female character that she is the first woman she has ever had feelings for. She also says stuff like this:

Anyway, the main point is I love this mod very much and I think that if you play Skyrim with mods you should absolutely give Vilja a try.

Ok so I'm a good way into the Kaiden Extended Edition romance path and I have to say that I agree with the populace on this one; he's not as sweet as he used to be. I saw someone on here describe him as a YA book protagonist and that is probably the most accurate thing I have ever heard about him honestly. That isn't to say I don't like him; I still think he's funny and sweet though, admittedly, he's sweeter in my head than he actually is in the game. I think my biggest complaint is that he repeats himself a lot and it gets annoying after a while. I can't give an opinion on his expanded personal quest or his jealous comments, which I am aware that people find toxic because I have them turned off. He's also a little bit too complex to put together because he requires a bunch of extra mods that aren't listed as requirements, but cause the romance scenes to glitch out if they aren't present. One thing I do really like however is how much care was put into Kaiden's MLM romance dialogue. Not only do Kaiden's lines change when he is in a relationship with a man, but other NPC's dialogues change. Which, like, they could have just kept things super gender-neutral so that they wouldn't have to rerecord lines, but they didn't and I appreciate that.

Serana dialogue add on is still the winner of the best romance mod though.

So I finally got Kaiden's immersive features animations working and I can just tell that the animations were made with female pcs in mind, which tracks because that's their target audience. However, this makes the animations with my character, who is a male orc almost the same height as Kaiden, occasionally hilarious. For the most part, it's cute, and even though it forces Khajan to be several inches shorter while the animation is playing it works. But there is one animation where Kaiden picks up the dragon born and like the mental image of Kaiden deadlifting this 6' extremely muscular orc is just killing me 😂😂. The man is dedicated.
