Throwback Highlight- King of Monsters 2
Good morning!
Today we’re going to throwback to something that I played a lot as a little kid with my cousin, King of Monsters 2 for the Super Nintendo. Not only is it something I had a lot of fun playing, but it also had a part in helping me think of a name for this blog.
King of Monsters 2 was a side scrolling beat ‘em up game where you chose one of three monsters (Geon, Astro Guy, and Woo) to work to defend Earth against an alien threat. Of course I spent most of my time playing the two player competition mode. It was released for the Super Nintendo in 1993, so this game is as old as I am, and sometimes that’s unsettling to think about.
There’s not a lot to say about this game. It wasn’t very long, and it didn’t have anything that made it stand out from other games of its kind. The biggest thing for me is that I spent so much time playing this with my cousin that it really holds a special place in my heart. I always loved running around and smashing the game environment as a giant lizard monster. (Geon)
I mean, you can’t look at that image and say that this doesn’t look like fun.
Maybe some day I’ll find a good emulator for this game.
Until Later,
MechaKayra out!
GODZILLA PS3 MONSTERS: GODZILLA (Part 1 of 3)
TRAILER
GODZILLA PS3 - HEISEI GOJIRA
Scans from an article for the new Godzilla PS3 game! A translation of the article follows:
In the game, players will do battle against G-Force as you rampage across Japan, encountering fearsome battles that will increase in difficulty. Fighter jets, tanks, and maser tanks will surround and attack head on from all sides. However the real brutes of G-Force are: The Super X The Super X2 The Super X3 and MFS-3 3-type KIRYU The Super X will be armed with powerful weaponry, its most devastating weapon being Cadmium Missiles. The Super X2, a more defensive Super X, will feature it's iconic reflection mirror, a feature that can heavily damage you if you are careless in your assault. The Super X3, will feature frozen based weaponry, while having its powerful Freezer Beam armed. KIRYU: Serving as the strongest of G-force's arsenal, built around the skeletal frame of the original Godzilla, is a multiple-purpose weapon, equipped with laser guns, missiles, and the Absolute Zero. (And armed with the menacing Drill Arm.) Super X seems to be able to engage in battle alongside Kiryu in order to overpower you. Judging from the screenshots, you'll probably encounter Kiryu a few times throughout the game. It also appears that you can "Evolve" Godzilla within the game. You start the game out at 50 meters, but you can become more powerful and larger, the max growth limit being 100 meters. A reach that is only obtained by absorbing more and more nuclear radiation throughout the game and evolving to such a state of power.
So... are you hyped now, or no?
More PS3 Godzilla screens, plus a render of the big guy himself! (And a sneak peek at what appears to be Kiryu!)
Still no word on a western release, though. Fingers crossed, people. Toes, too.
