KaiKashi Fluff Alphabet!
So @eye-of-moon-15 had an interesting request: the Fluff Alphabet for KaiKashi! This was lots of fun, thank you so much for asking for this! (It’s actually helping me get my mojo back for TUTN, too!) :)
Activities -What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
Mostly they’re pretty content to just be in the same room, doing their own things. In a more “modern/AU” setting where TV is a thing (or I guess the...shudder...Boruto era?), they’d definitely do Netflix binges.
B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
Kaiya has a thing for Kakashi’s facial bone structure. I mean, the man is practically chiseled from marble. She also reeeeally loves his shoulders. And back. And chest. Basically, the whole upper torso. Oh, and that lazy smile he has when he first wakes up.
Kakashi admires a lot about Kaiya...though if he HAD to pick...she has a great ass. He also loves how her whole face lights up when she’s excited about something, and how energetic she becomes.
C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
Kaiya is more prone to panic attacks than depressive episodes, so when one happens, Kakashi first reminds her to breathe. He usually also stays near her, having her focus on him until she calms down, then holding her if she needs it.
Kakashi, on the flip side, is more prone to depressive episodes. When Kaiya notices one happening, she’ll often come up behind him and wrap her arms around him, just reminding him that he isn’t alone, he isn’t worthless or a failure, he is loved.
D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?
For Kakashi, this is perhaps the first time he’s ever seen himself settling down, or even wanting to. He imagines the two of them traveling together, raising dogs or kids or both, and - wonder of wonders - growing old together.
Kaiya cannot imagine her future without Kakashi. Period. Whatever happens, whatever they wind up doing, it’ll be together. So...kind of the same ^_^
E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
Kaiya’s the dominant one. Kakashi is more passive and tends to defer to her :P
F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
Well, considering that Kaiya’s forgiven Kakashi for essentially lying about her own identity to her for much of her life...there isn’t much they can’t work through :P When they do fight or argue, they’re pretty opposite: Kaiya NEEDS to talk and express what she’s thinking and feeling, but Kakashi tends to process things internally. Especially in the beginning of their relationship (and long before it was romantic), this was very difficult for Kaiya especially to adjust to and understand. She would misinterpret his lack of communication as apathy, rather than recognize that Kakashi is just a much more introverted person who’s unused to expressing himself openly.
G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
Sooooo grateful on both ends! Kaiya sometimes can’t believe that Kakashi has been with her, in one way or other, for so long - even during a more tumultuous period where she went back to a certain old flame. He understands her better than anyone has before, and his steady presence is like a rock for her.
Kakashi also can’t believe that this gorgeous, smart, witty woman sees anything in him - and not least of all because of the major lie that loomed over their friendship in the beginning! He’s long assumed he was either unworthy of love, or that even if he did get close to someone, that just meant that he’d lose them. Or - his worst nightmare - that HE would be the one to end their life somehow. He’s grateful for every day they’re alive together. Also, Kaiya challenges him, pushes him to be a more actively involved person in the village rather than simply following orders. She helped him become more proactive at a time in his life when he’d stagnated a bit.
H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
Uhhhh....well, not anymore. After the Big Lie about Kaiya’s identity, they’ve endeavored to be honest with each other.
I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
Lol - I feel like “G” kind of touched on this :P For Kaiya, Kakashi is a grounding force. Also, by learning to trust him again after the Big Lie, she learned to trust herself again as well - her instinct about him, that he was a good person, really had been right. After Itachi and the massacre...she’d lost that confidence in her own judgment.
Kakashi did change as well. By opening himself up to Kaiya, he opened himself up to living life and having a future.
J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
Eh, not really on either side, actually. They trust each other - though they might get annoyed with people who are overly persistent with the other :P
K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
Kakashi is a GREAT kisser. Assertive, but not aggressive - a perfect balance of give and take. Very much a tease with his tongue :P
Kaiya is a passionate kisser, though she tends to let the other person take the lead. However, she’s more than happy to initiate :P
L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?
I’ll answer this as a hypothetical, though it happened in the old TUTN :P Kaiya would be pretty straightforward, though she’d ramble her way through it out of nervousness!
Kakashi...I think he’d be straight-forward too, but in a casual way. Like...he’d just say something like, “So...I like you.” And it would be out of nowhere, apropos of nothing. But it would also take him a looooooong time to finally say it :P
M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
When the question of marriage comes up, it’s after they’ve been together for a while. They already live together. Heck, they may have already had a kid. It only comes up as a practical concern, or because other people have been hounding them about it. They wouldn’t want a big wedding, and would prefer to just elope. However, if that wasn’t an option (and it probably wouldn’t be), Kaiya would have Gorou give her away, and Kakashi would have Guy as his best man. After the wedding, it’d be back to life as usual, though they’d each get a kick out of calling each other “husband” and “wife” :P
N icknames - What do they call their s/o?
Kaiya has several for Kakashi: Old man, Copy-Nin, (teasing) sensei, (also teasing) Hokage-sama
Kakashi doesn’t have many for Kaiya. But when he is Hokage, he’ll call Kaiya “Hokage-sama” and insist she’s the one who does all the work. Partly in an attempt to make her do the work. :P
O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
Omg...just about everyone could tell these two would be a Thing long before they finally got together. They were constantly teasing and bantering with each other. Kakashi would actually show up on time to things having to do with Kaiya (well, sometimes). When they do finally get together, they don’t think they act any different...but they do. It’s in how they look at each other, how they always seem to be close together.
P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?
They don’t actively hide it, but they don’t advertise, either. People know they’re together (See “O”), but they’re not big into PDA, at least at first. Later on, after they’ve been together a while and things are less tense in the village overall, they’re more open about having arms around each other and little pecks. They still save the heavier stuff for more private places.
Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
Kakashi’s a good cook - better than Kaiya is! Kaiya CAN cook, and she’s learned a lot from Hikaru, but she’s more used to quick, convenient meals with long shelf lives.
Kaiya...well, her barrier jutsu has come in very handy at times...if ya know what I’m sayin’ ;)
R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
Kakashi likes making candlelit dinners for them. He definitely prefers it to going out! Kaiya humors Kakashi’s requests to try out things from Icha Icha ;) She’d never admit it out loud, but once she got past the squick factor of her godfather being the creator of that series, she actually has fun playing out the scenarios.
S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
Definitely! These two are partners in many things - life, work. Even at the start, Kakashi supported and low-key mentored Kaiya, training with her so she could be a stronger fighter and being a sounding board for her Fuinjutsu work. For a while, Kaiya actually felt inadequate, like she didn’t have any way to reciprocate; Kakashi is older, more experienced...what did she offer? But she pushes him, keeps him on his toes, and provides confidence when he’s lacking. Eventually, they’re on more even footing in a lot of ways.
T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out their relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
Sometimes, yes, they do try out new things - usually in the bedroom (or wherever they happen to be trying those new things!). There isn’t much in everyday life they try, though. They’re usually just relieved to have a relatively calmer, less drama- and danger-filled life.
U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
They’ve gotten to know each other very well. Again, in the beginning, Kaiya had a hard time with Kakashi because he just isn’t very outwardly expressive. But once she learned to interpret his subtle tells, and once he learned how to talk about his thoughts and feelings more, they’ve gotten very good at reading each other.
V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?
It’s one of the most important things in each of their lives. It’s not the ONLY thing - there’s family, friends, their commitment to making the world better, etc. But they never take it for granted.
W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.
Behind closed doors, Kakashi is very cuddle-hungry! He loves to just hold Kaiya or rest on her lap or chest with her massaging his scalp. Sometimes he lays his head over her heart just to hear it beating.
X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
Yes, just not as much in public view!
Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?
They’ll distract themselves, usually with work, or if possible (ie, they’re not on a lonely mission), with friends and family. If/when phones become a thing in the Narutoverse, they’d definitely call each other at least once a day to check in (assuming circumstances allowed).
Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lenghts for the relationship? If so, what kind of?
I think so. It goes without saying that they’d die - or kill - for each other, but I see this question as being about other parts of a long term relationship. They’d be open to things like counseling. One might think that their busy, mission-filled lives would get in the way and create resentment on at least one side...but for the most part, it doesn’t. One of the reasons they work so well together is that they both understand how important the village and their work is. They’re used to putting other things above their own needs and desires. However...sometimes they do need to just take time off to be together, just the two of them. Sometimes that’s harder for them to do than arguing or fighting off enemies. Again, they don’t take their relationship for granted necessarily...but they do forget that they’re allowed to be selfish sometimes for their own sakes.

who’s the cuddler: Surprisingly? Kakashi. He’s the one who will turn over in bed, grab hold of Kaiya around the waist/whatever he can get his arms around, and just not let go.
who makes the bed: Hmm. Both. It’s such an ingrained habit for each of them that even if only one person gets up, that person will automatically straighten their side of the bed.
who wakes up first: Usually Kaiya, though not always, and not by a lot of time. Kakashi’s actually quite the early riser, despite his habitual tardiness.
who has the weird taste in music: Kakashi. Definitely Kakashi. I mean, that’s assuming either of them has a taste in music to begin with :P
who is more protective: Oh god, between these two? Well…I was originally going to say they’re about equal, but when I started really thinking about it…Kaiya. She’s the type who, when Kakashi (or anyone she loves) is actively being threatened, will be fiercely and unrelentingly protective. She knows Kakashi is strong and capable and more experienced than she, but it doesn’t stop her from worrying about his more reckless tendencies. Kakashi, while he loves Kaiya and wants to know that she’s safe, also greatly respects her abilities. So long as she’s not being needlessly reckless, he trusts her to take care of herself for the most part.
who sings in the shower: Please. They both sing in the shower. But never when they shower together, oddly enough.
who cries during movies: Kakashi. Especially if it’s an Icha Icha adaptation.
who spends the most while out shopping: Huh…neither of them is much of a shopper…though actually…Kaiya. She’s always on the lookout for little tokens and souvenirs for the orphanage kids.
who kisses more roughly: Depends on the situation and their moods. Kakashi is a sensual kisser who likes to nip; Kaiya is more fiery, but also a bit more submissive.
who is more dominate: Kakashi, generally - but mostly because Kaiya loves teasing him into that state :P
my rating of the ship from 1-10: Definitely a 10. They’re probably the healthiest ship in TUTN, frankly - but far from boring ;)

Kakashi
1. Their physical weak spots. Ooo, tough one! Hmm…I’m gonna go with his nose. He has a strong sense of smell, so anything overly strong can mess with his senses. If someone managed to actually get a good strike in and break his nose, the disorientation and loss of his most powerful sense would throw him way off.
4. Best places to kiss on their body. His chest and abdomen. His lips are also incredibly sensitive, given that they’re constantly protected from the elements :P
5. Guilty pleasures. Besides Icha Icha? Though since he openly reads it in public, I suppose it’s not so much a “guilty” pleasure… In TUTN, watching Kaiya walk away. Rear view. Yum.
9. Humiliating memories. He once called Kushina “Mom.” She NEVER let him live it down.
11. Bad or petty habits. Other than being chronically late to everything…Kakashi has a habit of deflecting any potentially personal questions/conversations.
Kaiya
4. Best places to kiss on their body. Ooo…neck, especially a particular spot on the left just below her jaw line. Also: along her hip. It’s just very intimate and makes her feel like she’s being worshiped and cherished :)
14. Ingrained habits/forces of habit. Lip biting. When she was younger she’d constantly ask questions and challenge things people said or did; the Academy, unfortunately, made her suppress a lot of those urges, so now she actually has a habit of holding in her questions and curious nature. She’s now starting to release that side of her again.
15. What it takes to make them cry. Not much, actually :P Kaiya is emotional and expressive. Frustration, grief, disappointment, anger…lots of emotions will trigger tears for her as a form of release. Even joy, sometimes.
18. Things they’ll never admit. Her first (mild) crush was on Hikaru. It didn’t last long and was mostly because he was the first boy (aside from Gorou, whom she’d known for years) who expressed any interest in her, prompting her over-active imagination to jump to “does he like me?” and “what if we were…” It wasn’t because he was interested romantically, though; he was more intrigued by how smart she was, since no one else in their class really gave him any challenge. Plus he’s gay.
She never told him.
22. People who’ve influenced them greatly. Surprisingly: Kabuto. When they knew each other at the orphanage, she saw him healing people in the medical tents. Seeing him helping people in a place filled with blood and despair made her want to help people, too. Eventually this morphed into her reason for becoming a ninja in the first place: To make a difference in the world, even if it’s in a relatively small way.
Then of course there’s Yuuma, who believed in her and nurtured her potential in a way no one had before then. He also spent time with her outside of missions and training, sometimes people-watching at a tea shop, sometimes just being there.
Have you ever read the novel, Kakashi Hiden: Lightning in the Icy Sky? Kakashi totally had a crush on the character Kahyo. And at the end of the story, their were rumors that they were together. I was wondering if you had read the novel, and Kakashi and Kaiya were in a relationship, how would she react to the rumors of Kakashi being in a relationship with Kahyo. And if Itachi survives and he and Kaiya are in a relationship, would she be jealous or happy for Kakashi?
Hey there! I have read that novel, yes. To be honest, given that TUTN basically goes AU partway through, I never considered any of that to be…”TUTN canon?” That’s the best way I can put it. But to play the thought experiment for a sec…
If KaiKashi were happening at the time: Kaiya would probably be more amused by the rumors than anything. Also, there’s a good chance that such rumors wouldn’t really exist, since by then it’d be known that they were in a relationship. The existence of an OC changes the story/universe around them; and so Kaiya’s existence in Kakashi’s life would change the way he thought. I think he’d still feel an attraction toward Kahyo and definitely respect for her, but he’s a very loyal person who’d also be counting the minutes (so to speak) to get back to his SO. Kaiya would want to meet this woman who had such an impact on him; it’s not just anyone who can truly impress Kakashi, so I think fascination would overcome any vague jealousy she might feel. (Not saying she wouldn’t feel even a little bit, just that she trusts Kakashi to be honest with her and that he is committed to her.)
And hey, if they’re feeling particularly progressive…an, erm, arrangement might be worked out ;)
If ItaKai were a thing at the time: Kaiya would totally encourage Kakashi to pursue an actual relationship. She’d want him to be happy, and would probably get a kick out of teasing him over it. “So, seen your girlfriend lately?” “When’s the big day?” “Are we gonna hear the pitter-patter of little scarecrows at Hozuki Castle soon?”
How would Team 7 (Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura) react to the ships KaiKashi and ItaKai? How would Minato and Kushina react? And Team Recon?
Ooo…this is a fun one! Strap in, ‘cause it’s also a long answer. Gonna break it down by ships:
ItaKai
Important to note: In the story (old version, at least), Team 7 and Team Recon do eventually learn the truth about Itachi.
Team 7
When ItaKai first became a thing (pre-massacre), Naruto was COMPLETELY oblivious. He met Itachi twice during this time, but in classic Naruto fashion, never remembered it. Later on, after learning the truth about the massacre and getting to know the “real” Itachi a bit, he’s just happy that his sister got to be right about him - right to always have those nagging doubts about the massacre, right to never completely give up on him. In a way, it gives him hope that he’s also right about Sasuke.
Sakura has similar feelings to Naruto about it - seeing Itachi and Kaiya able to reconnect gives her hope for Sasuke.
Sasuke…here’s a complicated one. When they were younger, he was a bit mixed. On the one hand, his brother was spending time with this girl instead of with him. On the other, he (Sasuke) actually kind of liked that girl. He also liked how his brother was around her - lighter, happier in a way that he only ever saw with himself or Shisui. Post-massacre, their relationship doesn’t play into Sasuke’s feelings about his brother much; the whole “he killed my entire clan” thing does tend to eclipse a young romance gone wrong. As for later on, when the truth comes out…in my headcanon, he’s again, mixed. Part of him is glad that his brother got some happiness in the end, no matter how short-lived, and he’s even grateful to Kaiya (and maybe a bit envious) for being able to give that to him.
Team Recon
Not thrilled about it. At all. Before the massacre, they were…hesitantly supportive? They were all young, but Hikaru and Gorou definitely felt a sudden burst of brotherly protectiveness over Kaiya when they realized she was developing something with the Uchiha heir. They were worried he was taking advantage of her, that he’d just use her then toss her aside in favor of doing whatever his clan dictated…and they didn’t want to see their “little sister” heartbroken. Of course, that’s…more or less what wound up happening, in an extreme way. Itachi committed the massacre of his clan, becoming a notorious criminal who allegedly had been a psychopath the whole time.
Later on, when they’re together again, Hikaru and Gorou are, again, VERY not thrilled about it. By now they know the truth of the massacre, but even so, neither of them can see anything good coming out of those two being together - except that they trust their teammate and see that while the situation makes her unbearably sad, she’s also, in a way, happy. So they keep their mouths shut, try to accept it for what it is, but plan to be there as soon as things go south to pull her out and/or be her support.
BONUS AU HEADCANON: Again, they’d be hesitantly supportive at first, always with an eye out in case this clan heir was up to no good. But they see over and over again that this is not the case, that Itachi genuinely cares for Kaiya. Plus, in this AU, Itachi and Kaiya have known each other WAY longer than Team Recon has been around. So actually, they might not be as hesitant. Heck, Gorou might even be playing matchmaker in the beginning! Yuuma would be in the background with Shisui, both of them with knowing smiles that say “yeah, we knew all along this would happen.”
Minato & Kushina
This is mostly based on an AU scenario where everyone is alive, there was no massacre, etc. Kushina is totally into this. Seriously. She and Mikoto have been plotting this since Itachi and Kaiya were born (well, mostly Kushina doing the plotting!). When Itachi and Kaiya get married, Kushina is unrestrainedly cheering during the ceremony. Minato…he’s quite okay with it. Itachi is a polite, kind individual, highly skilled and intelligent. He has a good head on his shoulders, a good heart in his chest, and he obviously adores and cherishes Minato’s little girl. Minato may have been a little more protective when they first started dating as teens, maybe even using his Hokage status to…silently remind Itachi not to mess with his daughter, but I can also see him basically grooming Itachi over the years to possibly become the next Hokage.
In the “real world” of the story…I think Minato and Kushina would be heartbroken at what’s become of Itachi, and what that means for an ItaKai relationship. Minato would blame himself for, well, dying so early on - if he’d survived, if he’d been a little faster, a little stronger, defeated the masked man and subdued the Kyuubi without getting shanked…maybe the massacre wouldn’t have happened. Maybe his daughter wouldn’t have been an amnesiac orphan. Heck, maybe even his son wouldn’t have had to carry a demon. Maybe his wife would’ve survived. And maybe, just maybe, Itachi could have had a more normal life where his potential was allowed to blossom in a more peaceful environment.
KaiKashi
Team 7
Naruto and Sakura are all for it. These two are like the parent figures of Team 7, so them getting together is just…right.
Sasuke is a little more…hesitant? On the one hand, pre-Shippuden, he was just too caught up in his own world to care - or at least, that’s what he told himself. I think he might actually be a little resentful of Kaiya for moving on in any way when he refuses to. Part of him recognizes that this isn’t a fair judgment - as he often reminds himself, she didn’t lose her whole clan that night, it’s not her responsibility to do anything about it - but he’s young. He doesn’t have the maturity yet to separate his experiences from those of others. Another part of him, though, agrees with Naruto and Sakura - the two just work together.
Team Recon
Total KaiKashi shippers here. They’re happy to see Kaiya moving on (however slowly and hesitantly) and they think Kakashi is good for her. They couldn’t be more into this if they were following them around quietly singing “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid in the background.
Minato & Kushina
Hmm…no AU scenario for this one, so just TUTN-verse: Minato is actually pretty into this. Of course, there’s a little time-shock for him here, because when he was alive and last saw these two, his precious baby girl was just short of five years old and his protege was already an Anbu operative and a teenager…so yeah, there’s a little cognitive dissonance in suddenly seeing them both as adults AND romantically involved. But he’s happy that they’ve found happiness and comfort in each other, and can almost see a bit of a mirror of him and Kushina in them.
Kushina is also pretty happy about it, though she’d probably want to give Kakashi a stern talking-to about how to treat a lady, including NOT reading porn by a certain Pervy Sage around her daughter!
