According to biographer Brigitte Hamann:⠀ ⠀ “Elisabeth considered her hair her crowning glory. She was proud of nothing so much as the cascade that enveloped her like a cloak when it was loosened.”⠀ ⠀ Even today when we're thinking about Sisi, we have in our mind a woman with marvelous thick and brown hair which grew all the way down to her feet. ⠀ ⠀ But of course it wasn't a easy job!⠀ ⠀ The care and maintenance of these extraordinary tresses required a time commitment of at least three hours per day. Every morning, after a cold bath, massage, light breakfast, and rigorous exercise, Sisi sat down in a chair and Fanny Feifalik, her hairdresser, combed her hair with the greatest care. ⠀ ⠀ The weight of Sisi’s hair was sometimes too much for her. She suffered from headaches and, at their onset, would remain in her apartments with her hair held up with ribbons to take the weight from her head and allow the “air to circulate” through her tresses until the headache passed. ⠀ ⠀ It's not very widely know that fact, but I found it very interesting to share with you, even if there's SO much to say about that subject! 😉 ⠀ #Sisi #Elisabethofaustria #kaiserinsissi #kaiseirelisabeth #queen #kaiserin #erzsebethkyraline #sissi #habsburg #drawing #wip #comics #fumetto #bd #illustration #1800s #austria #watercolor #aquarelle #dessin #Steinkis #giorgiamarras #history #historical #historicalcomics #hofburg #hair #historicalnotes ⠀ (presso Maison des Auteurs) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqN-boDh62t/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fmfm5xnqfih7
