hey, so, this turned out longer than expected. :) give it a read over on ao3 if Complicated Feelings Between Friends is your jam, maybe :) that being said,
Oh, can I request a Jacob/Kaitlyn and something with their first time becoming friends as little kids 🌦
🔮 A boy walks up to Kaitlyn as she’s sitting on the steps of her front porch picking at a scab on her scraped knee.
He’s a boy she’s seen--- they go to the same elementary school, but they’re in different third grade classes, and she’s seen him scrambling after the bus in the morning out her window as she gets ready for school--- but she doesn’t know him by name. Until today.
“Hi.” Kaitlyn responds lazily, returning to scratching at her knee with her chipped, yellow-painted fingernails. I’m busy, she thinks, scuffing her Skechers on the ground. She was about to get up and get her roller skates so she could skate to get ice cream with some pocket cash she earned from picking up cans.
“My mom said to give you this.” Jacob extends a grubby hand, and Kaitlyn looks up-- in the palm of the boy’s hand sits a band-aid, white with big, round smiley faces all over it.
“Does your mom think I don’t have band-aids in my house?” Kaitlyn brushes her messy hair out of her eyes and does her best scornful stare.
“No.” Now Jacob’s scuffing his sneakers on the concrete.
“Okay.” Kaitlyn shrugs. She takes the bandage from the boy’s outstretched hand, unwraps it, and sticks it over where the scab on her knee has begun bleeding. “Do you have roller skates?”
“I have roller blades.” Jacob states proudly.
“Do you wanna come with me to get ice cream? We can play basketball in your driveway after.” Kaitlyn gestures down the street at the white-sided house she’s seen Jacob run out of in the mornings.
“Sure!” Jacob grins. “Let me get my blades real quick!” He scampers off to cross the street, seemingly remembering at the last moment to look both ways, and darts into his garage.
Kaitlyn looks down at the smiley faces adorning her knee and mimics their grin.
