What is your OC’s ‘‘darkness moment’’ in the plot? 👀

I realise at this moment that I probably should have asked people to specify what oc they’re asking about. Oh well, considering that Edda is my big one, I’m going to assume this is about her.

Ok, so, if we’re talking strictly Wayward, as in just what happens in the fic. Not counting Edda’s backstory (and oh boy can I go on about Eddas backstory). It’s probably when (SPOILER) Arthur get’s captured by Lord Simon, since that is pretty much many of Eddas fears realised when it comes to Arthur. That she’s going to be the cause of his death. That she’s effectively has traded his life for her own safety, and that if she want’s him back she’s going to have to risk it all and go right where her family wants her to be. (End of SPOILER)

But well, if we’re talking say, post Wayward, ohohohohoh oh boy. Then Edda might one day have to truly come face to face with the realities of having fallen in love with a Crown Prince. Sure Arthur might be willing to bend rules and traditions, but would his parents be as willing, the kingdoms advisors, it’s nobility?

Edda will never be happy as a queen. So there will very well be a point when she feels like she has to choose between future happiness and Arthur.

And you know what. I think in this darkest moment. Stuck against a rock and a hard place. Edda might choose future happiness in hopes that it might make life easier for both her and Arthur. That she might be less of a burden if she simply wasn’t there to drag him down anymore (aka just a smidge of the good old self loathing sneaking up on her there).

Of course, she exists in a fairy tale land, a land of fantasy and magic, so there will very likely be a solution for this that isn’t any of those two options. And isn’t the main theme of romance stores that love conquers all?

I was a little hesitant to ask this, BUT! since you mentioned it in your most recent post… I’ve always wondered if you’ve considered Villain!Arthur and Edda.

And u are right, i feel their dynamic could get kinda tricky, but it’d be so cool if he had a redemption arc—or even stayed in a morally grey zone where Edda can catch glimpses of the side of him she actually likes? Idk if that makes sense, but just an idea!

I think I understand what you mean. Out of the two I feel more partial to him staying morally grey, hell I would honestly enjoy giving him ‘pet the cat’ moments early in a theoretical story since I think I like the idea of him still being a softy deep down (and maybe it’s seeing those moments that initially gives Edda a pause about him you know). A redemption arc can work too, though I feel like I’m a lot more particular in how I would want a hypothetical redemption arc to go.

Of course without a basic idea of what a villain Arthur would entail it’s hard to really pin anything down. I kinda like the feel of him being bandit like, though I’m not sure if I wanna stray to far away from the royalty aspect of, you know, a guy based on King fucking Arthur. Maybe I could have Camelot just be a darker and more feared place in the au, but emphasising his royalty with how much Edda hates royalty feels kinda tricky.

The best I can think of right now is maybe Arthur as a bastard son, (since I know in at least Le Morte d’Arthur he’s the result of his dad sleeping with a woman while magically transformed as the woman husband, who’s unbeknownst to her is actually dead at that point) who’s trying to gain power to steal the throne to Camelot, and is doing so by doing bandit things with f7 (who would also be villains in this au).

This could also work with the general inciting incident I imagine for this au, being Arthur kidnapping Edda from her forced marriage to a guy who dragged her back to being a princess (not Simon in this au, I think), because he wants to use her as a bargaining chip so he could get his hands on some of Gustav’s weapons. Then maybe he and Edda could get separated from the rest of f7, and get put in a situation where they have to rely on each other to get through it, with Edda helping in throwing the rescue partes off their backs while silently making her own escape plans that let’s her go back to doing her magician things like before.

…ok the more I think about this the more I actually want to write it, but I’m not sure if I really have the time nor energy to do so rn, and also I have no idea how the story would end with a setup like that. Arthur would definitely go through some sort of redemption arc to make up for the whole kidnapping thing, though maybe one that still keeps him kind of morally grey, but morally grey with more standards I guess.

Feel free to chime in with your own ideas, I assume what I’m thinking isn’t exactly what you imagined, and I’m curious what you might have thought about.

honestly, probably Jack. the man is a bit of philanderer, though Arthur has a much harsher word for him. it rhymes with door.

(Omg so sorry for not specifying that I was referring to Edda in the previous ask, I wrote it quickly without seeing your post on your other blog ah!)

Do Edda's parents in Wayward (or any alternate-reality universe) and Arthur have crossed paths? Is it before or after the events of fic?

Hmm, I think they most likely has crossed paths in minor ways before. In Wayward (or any au where the main difference is Edda being a villain or a vampire), I can imagine them coming over to Camelot for diplomatic meetings at one point or another. Though I imagine that happening at a point where Arthur is not to interested in learning about other kingdoms leading to him not really paying them any attention. I also do imagine them crossing paths after Wayward, also for diplomatic reasons & maybe to have a talk with a fairly renowned hero that’s also a kingdoms crown prince, and my god does that become kinda awkward. Arthur does not like them, but he can’t really explain his dislike without risking getting Edda in trouble, so he just has to stew in it the entire conversation. Thankfully Eddas parents just take it as him being really serious about his work.

(Side note, I had a bit to much fun with this idea, so I ended up exaggerating a little with Arthur’s expression in the first sketch, I imagine the second one to be a bit more accurate to what he looks like for most of his conversation with the two.)

As for any au’s in a more modern setting, like the superhero au? Yeah, they are rich owners of a defence company in the superhero au, so I’d imagined they’d reached out or tried to mingle with the f7 at least at a few points. In a more standard superhero au I feel like it slightly less likely as I imagine them to just be members of an old aristocratic family who’s main income is giving tours to tourist in their old family mansion without any connections to any larger companies and such. Though the possibility is still there I grant you that.
