I usually don't do redraws, but I do love this one.

I've recently put more thought into Krevel and Kalikat's relationship. I came to the conclusion that they were best buds ever since Krevel and his brothers arrived at the Neverhood. Kalikat was dearly strapped for people who could play the faggot by then, and Krevel was eager to learn. They hit it right off the bat.

Compare this to the motivation of the 2007 picture. I was so happy I had come up with a super duper original design for a Hoodian, red skin and white clothes, when I looked at Pyreo's picture of the original twenty and found a guy with a very similar design. If you can't beat them, join them. They can both be red, I thought.

The phrases from my Neverhood headcannon now include:

“And then everything went down the drain.” Meaning: Things went sour. Origin: The drain in the bottom of the lake is actually a rich source of inspiration for various phrases. One might say “his heart fell down the drain” to express the loss of courage. A more extreme case is “to jump down the drain”, which was, for long time, the only known way for a Neverhoodian to kill himself. Now “to jump down the drain” is a common euphemism for suicide generally.

“Don’t act like a one-day-old.” Meaning: You’re being immature. Origin: A one-day-old is a person who had been created on that very day. One-day-olds are generally confused and unfamiliar with the rules of the Neverhood.

“You’re teaching a hoophead to lie.” Meaning: Your actions are futile. Origin: Due to being chronically honest, Nike was almost unable to tell lies.
