Ironic Endings

Have you noticed that Code Geass is full of ironic endings? I certainly have. In fact, what really blew my mind about the final stretch of Code Geass was the (tragic) irony —Sophocles would be proud of this work. Usually, only one or two characters in a series or movie have an ironic end (like Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, who went from being the Avatar's chief hunter to his mentor and friend); however, so many characters here end up doing the exact opposite! It’s crazy! But it is a sign of thoughtful storytelling.

So, what do you think? What is your favorite ironic ending—and why is it Lelouch’s?
