{- lawful evil is pretty close to the mark but i’m wondering if she truly is lawful! lawful implies there IS a set of rules on adheres to, even if those rules ARE at other people’s expense, but we’ve already stated several times that Arachne is a moral relativist and willing to bend rules/morals/etc. to get what she wants! then again, she does have a few of her own boundaries and strict  convictions (conviction against lord death really) so.. -}

That's a really interesting thesis, to be honest. As long as My Immortal isn't on the syllabus, holy shit what a train wreck.

Good God, hopefully not. But, I have the sinking feeling that I’d have to teach it since, at this point, there’s actually a Fanfiction Canon and My Immortal is firmly on there. Like Shakespeare. Or a wine stain.

It’s just a shame that the only fanfic that really hits mainstream culture is horribad. Fanfiction follows sturgeon’s law just like everything else does, gatekeepers or no (because, let’s be honest with ourselves, publishing houses let PLENTY of crap through), but the only ones that people know are the terribad ones. 

(can you tell I’m salty about literary canon? because I am) But, especially with fanfiction acting as a creative writer’s first steps into fiction, I really do think there needs to be more importance placed into fanfic. Clearly, it’s the manifestation of people being so invested in a more “original” piece that they decide to create for it: which, in of itself, indicates that there was something they did not get enough of in the original piece. Traditional literature offers a linear relationship: Author writes Text. Reader consumes Text. Fanfiction is the callback; the response. Fanfiction has created a different relationship in which the AUthor writes Text. Reader consumes Text. Reader becomes Author2 commenting upon Text, by writing Text2. 

Idk man, something like that is absolutely beautiful to me. Literature/media becomes a conversation that goes two ways, not just one and reader shifts from consumer to creator. How can that be anything other than cool?

Can someone explain how being indoctrinated into "Lesbianism" works? Is it like being strapped to a chair A Clockwork Orange-Style while Frozen and the ending to Legend of Korra play on a loop?

See, how is Legend of Korra’s ending going to indoctrinate anyone? That is my biggest complaint about that ending--not that Korra and Asami are canon but how come we cannot hear “I love you” or see a kiss due to Nickelodeon’s double standard?! WTF?!

(Breathes into a paper bag, repeatedly whining, “That last episode pisses me off so much...Stop messing up my ships...”)
