Trying to find this place felt like navigating deep into Viridian Forest late at night, even though it was daylight and the weather was fairly clear. He got lost several times trying to find this mysterious path that had been described, but like hell he was going to just give up.
He caught himself looking up at Mt. Silver during one moment where he decided to take a break and collect his thoughts again, getting a headache from staring down at his nonsensical notes. Yet somehow the more he lingered on it, the more he felt he understood something suddenly. He stopped messing with the slip of paper and just... continued forward, solely based on a hunch he was getting. Funny how when a sense of unease set in, he began to think he might finally be on the right track.
It wasn’t long until a tiny town was in sight, so far removed from the rest of Kanto it was no wonder it wasn’t widely known. It didn’t look like too many people lived here but there were a few... and some concerning looking buildings close to the back. He adjusts his bag before heading in, feeling like he’s walking right into a Rocket Base all over again.
The Phantom revealed!
The battle concluded with the Phantom standing tall as the winner of the exhibition match! Their trusty Meowscarada set up their borrowed Kingambit for the perfect sweeping oppertunity!
"Well fought indeed, Young master Vermillion. I'm quite impressed with your showing. So, as a show of respect, and as thanks for such a wonderful tournament and event, allow me to thank you in person!"
The mask and hat are then removed...
.........
...............
Revealing a cascading curtain of green hair that is hurriedly shaken out, and the phantom taking a rather deep bow.
"A wonderful dance indeed, Vermillion!" She laughs, striking a rather grandiose pose as she turned to the gathering audience. "Yes, it's true! Your own elite four, Rika, here! At your service! But might I say I NEVER expected to have such an intense run for my money! So as a show of courtesy, I return to you your prizes. Thank you for such a wonderful time, and a wonderful display of skill and love for your pokemon! Truly one of Kanto's brightest stars!"
The Meowscarada leaps from behind her, snapping its fingers at the floor as the Trophy, Shiny Luvdisc and cash prize all appear at once.
"I do hope you'll join us again next year, Vermillion! Until then, Adios!"
@kantoblood + tailored, azure // "Hey. Hope I'm not bothering you during your rush hour." He slid a debit card over. "I was hoping to get something relatively normal, but with Shiny Umbreon design." A suit perhaps? Anything new. "Something interesting like a suit-gown but relatively easy to move in."
"I'd also like something that shows off a note of power or based on the constellations if at all possible."
Azure slid the card back, saying, "Payment only upon delivery of the outfit, not before. To make sure our dear customers like what they see. It'll be no trouble...come back soon for your suit. I have something in mind..."
Azure took down the details of the suit, nodding occasionally and humming something to himself in affirmation when the description was over. He thanked the customer for choosing their shop and got to work on making the request...
And after some time, here it is. Azure brought out the suit with a grand aplomb.
"The inside of the suit duster has a lining of dark blue satin, with constellations meticulously hand embroidered in. We chose the best ones to denote power, practically imbuing this. We kept it on the inside, as to only be shown off if you 'cut loose', as it were. Whether dancing or Pokemon battling, you'll be cutting a powerful figure. We also gave you a brooch, so that can be hinted at. Of course, we kept the theme to be that of a shiny Umbreon, as you requested. We hope you like your personalized design."

@kantoblood asked: goes to area zero, but only to see turo yelling at children to get off his lawn
There certainly is yelling. Screaming, even.
But none of the voices are Turo's.
@kantoblood
"That Gyarados of yours is a beast." He's trying to be a good sport about having his Coalassal get frozen. "I'm looking forward to seeing how you do in the next round!"
Scrimmages breaking out at the Luvdisc day tournament!!
Rika vs Red! @kantoblood
He can't get the situation out of his head, even in the days that followed. Red even dug around through storage at his mother's house while she was out, and while he did find old photos of distant family members he didn't know... he thinks. None of them looked anything like Vermillion, didn't even really look that much like himself either.
He eventually gets the idea to look through Pallet Town's archives a bit, the odds of it bringing up anything helpful were slim at this point. But he... was getting desperate for some logical explanation, because something about this didn't sit right with him. Coincidence. Coincidence. He kept telling himself that but here he was, flipping through files doubting that. Maybe he's just gotten too used to things not being a coincidence.
When he reached Professor Oak’s files on Mewtwo, he knew he’d gone too far in terms of looking into a person. However… he remembered recovering these files for him at the mansion on Cinnabar Island, but some of these were not among that bunch. Some even looked newer, and that concerned him enough to be nosy. There wasn’t much beyond observations of the old project at first, not until he came across a singular slip of paper hidden between meaningless pages, dying to stay hidden.
Half of the page was information that Red couldn’t fully understand, but it unnerved him to see a human figure on it instead of Mew or Mewtwo. The text at the bottom explained this very fast, and made a shudder go down his spine.
Looking at the results of further testing and refining, we’ve deemed this process to now be safe for human use. We will be moving forward with our research at the base in Flicker Town, thank you for your contribution to the project.
Flicker Town? He’d never heard of a place like that before, but the back of the page had scribbled down loose directions to the location in question. Was it a real town? Or was it a code name of some sort…? He writes down the directions himself and his growing suspicions about the situation, before shelving the documents again. His questions about Vermillion could wait a minute, he needed to look into this first. The document about this human testing process seemed to be about 12 years old now, the odds of him being able to do anything about it were slim. But he needed to know what was going on, and he doubted anyone was going to tell him if he asked. Nobody was very good at talking about their awful secrets after all.
Guess he was going to have to pry the truth out himself, as usual. Old habits as Kanto’s hero always did tend to die hard.
