“Curve the water just a taaaad more into a four-centered arch... we don’t want passengers shoulder-rubbing with the sides of the tunnel! They’re more than likely to get hit with a stray drizzle or two, already.”
Her timbre is reminiscent of the days she served as a Gym Leader, Jasmine dutifully instructing Altair and Jin as they summon water up from the moat around Mesagoza; a pair of the strongest minds of any psychic-type species known to man, their immaculate efforts create the perfect “tunnel” from seemingly nothing. Held together through pure willpower and perfected through trial-and-error, the two (along with Yao, when the trickster wouldn’t wander off) seem confident that this unique attraction will be a hit—Jasmine mirrors their excitement, bobbing atop the waters on the back of Lapis.
It took some paperwork and more than enough hassle to have some of her old faithfuls join her in Paldea for this occasion—the Luvdisc Festival! It reminds her greatly of the times long before she was a married woman, before her retirement from the leader’s position in Olivine; their work together, here and now, is incredibly reminiscent of Jasmine’s days as a burgeoning force on the competitive scene, a nostalgic sensation she wasn’t quite anticipating to experience in the still-strange region of Paldea.
Teamwork makes the dream work, as it always has (and as corny as it sounds)!
“Looks good, everyone! Keep at it,” she shouts back towards the tunnel artisans, Lapis floating gracefully atop the waves and back in the direction of the city’s east district. Morga awaits there, a carriage clutched in her talons: the platform that’ll assist festival-goers between the booth beside the Center and the waters glistening beautifully below. Jasmine’s worked exceptionally hard to ensure this attraction is accessible to all who wish to ride, not cutting a single corner.
While she leaps onto the platform to be lifted back to ground level, Lapis, Dema, and Umi remain playing within the waters: a deserved break, after traveling the intended course of the ‘Tunnel of Romance’ again and again for the last two hours.
“Edie,” Jasmine calls to the elderly Ledian, who’d been her partner for two decades now before being released to the wilds of Alto-Mare, only visiting for her love of events such as this, “you’re good to take Amy to the waterfall now—I’m sure it won’t be long before we receive our first couple!” With a flutter and hum, Edie lifts the wooden plank that Amy situates cozily upon, automatic camera at the ready as the duo take to the west with haste.
The view of the tunnel from above is nothing short of magnificent, and it takes a moment before Jasmine’s able to peel away from it. ‘Best get back to the booth to see what James has set-up,’ she hums, a small skip accompanying her every step. She’d been too hard at work to genuinely admit just how ecstatic she was to see this idea of theirs come to fruition.
But, there’s no denying it now; and so, flushed with anticipation and jubilance, she readies to help her husband with any last-minute preparations before the cities of Mesagoza teem with lovers, friends, and family alike.
