For the second time in a month, some CCG schmuck had mistaken her for a ghoul after seeing her regenerate. Blood dripping down her face and from other wounds over her body, Tomie stopped for a breather in an alleyway. The idiot had been chasing her for half an hour now. He’d run her all the way into a different ward.

It didn’t help that the ward he’d chased her into was known for ghouls, and now her sweet-smelling, enthralling blood poluted the air, filling it with saccharine poison. It didn’t matter that any part of her -- blood, saliva, even a strand of hair -- was ingested, it could turn them into another gross replica of her. She had enough difficulty gathering thralls in this accursed city without having competition.

She inhaled heavily when she heard the sounds of the investigator running towards her. Her heartbeat picked up. She didn’t want to get cut up into little pieces. It hurt and made her ugly.

It was no stretch of imagination to think that God had created the world just to punish her.

Fleeing further into the alleyway, Tomie saw a shop door. Perfect. She could even escape through something, if necessary. The monster retreated into the little back alley shop, immediately running over to the shopkeeper and latching onto his arm. “Please sir,” she pleaded, increasing her charming, seductive aura. “Bad men are chasing me... please... hide me...”

It wasn’t until the last second that her senses told her she’d grabbed onto a ghoul because of course she did. Screw her luck.

the day was DREADFULLY long, the sun now sat with BLAZING colors of salmon and vermilion. the puffed clouds catching the PIGMENTS and reflecting them to the city below. a world that wasn't as BRIGHT or COLORFUL as the one above. there were SHADOWS that lurked in every corner, PEERING eyes lingering on passing people, and the air was THICK with pollution. it was why he had set out to a far more peaceful area, a town not too far off with nature to surround himself in. an arm REELED in, wrist curled around a flat stone as he prepared to toss it skipping into the lake. but the stone fell free form his grip when a voice RANG in his thoughts. yatogami! aaaaaAAAAAH! YATOGAMI! HELP! SOMEBODY!

without hesitation, he DIPPED down to grasp the sword laying idly on the bank. one instant the crystalline waters that DANCED with the drops of sunlight, the next, he was ENCLOSED in a remote area in the midst of tall buildings. iridescent blues swooped onto the scene unfolding meters away from which he crouched. beneath an obscured figure was a girl, CLAWING at the pavement and CATERWAULING. she was RIDDLED with horror, DESPERATE to live but her motions ceased with shock at seeing Yato rise up. sword raising above his head, readying to swing at the back of the aggressor's neck. ❝You've two seconds to remove your filthy hands from her--❞ he didn't know the whole story but his first assumption made his stomach CHURN. ❝One--❞ his warning ripped through his chest, hands tightening on the handle as if expecting the other to deny what mercy he was giving.

♣ - What is one thing that they find embarrassing? (About them, others, things in general)┃ ┄ ┅ Kouen generally doesn’t feel embarrassment. Flustered sure, but embarrassment, not really. That being said, he doesn’t handle nudity with much grace. He is a very conservative man, and sees it as dishonorable and lewd to show much skin, especially if it is a warrior who is doing so.

Romantic attraction / feelings is also one thing that tends to muss up his thoughts. Kouen doesn’t know what to do with them or how to react to them. While it doesn’t outright embarrass him to express these feelings, he generally keeps them to himself as he can never get them out quite right. ─ ━ ♚ │

✕ - How do they handle rejection?┃ ┄ ┅ With as much dignity and maturity as you’d expect from someone in Kouen’s position. If the other person wishes it, then he will remain in their previous relationship with little change. He easily understands why someone would reject him, and while it hurts to be rejected he would rather have gotten it off his chest than hidden the feelings deep down. ─ ━ ♚ │

☾- Are they prone to nightmares or dreamless sleep?┃ ┄ ┅ He has many nightmares, though they come in clusters and they don’t happen every night. Generally they are about his family dying or being hurt or leaving him. Fortunately his mind is fortified enough to handle these kinds of dreams, and the only indication that he had a nightmare is an increased heartbeat and alertness.

The most frightening nightmare he’s had is one where, after killing Hakuryuu, he hears Hakuyuu’s voice expressing disappointment in him. These are the only nightmares that have scared Kouen so much he wakes up with a jolt and with feelings of immense guilt. ─ ━ ♚ │

So maybe, in hindsight, he should’ve listened to Shinohara when he told him not to throw himself into perilous situations as if he had skin as thick as an elephant’s and bones tough as titanium. The problem was that Suzuya knew not of fear— only the fun he could have with the seven or so territorial ghouls he’d (quite literally) run into. With a single quinque knife and no inhibitions, he’d plunged on in; slicing and dicing and revelling in the chance to paint the town red. He really was having the time of his life... until one of the better fighters got a hit in right before their kagune was chopped to bits. The few remaining ghouls were killed, then, with a new sense of urgency as his adrenaline began to wane. His abdomen didn’t hurt where it’d been cut... rather... tingled... but the fact that he could feel anything at all wasn’t a good sign. He needed to hurry up and stitch it back together— but in the dark, with rain beginning to grow torrential, he couldn’t make out what he was doing at all.

A shop, a shop...

Turning, he started towards the first source of light he saw— towards the ArtMask Studio across the road— the little bell jjingling ironically (mockingly) as he pushed his way inside. Only once he made it to a chair (after having tipped over a stand or two), did he care to acknowledge the owner and the pretty checkered floor now dappled with his blood.
