Review of the Detroit Become Human original soundtrack - Main Themes
Markus Main Theme - The softest, most haunting lullaby you'll ever hear. Starts with a gentle, simple piano baseline. The melody takes its time fading in, every note echoes until it dissolves into the baseline. You could rest so easy in this music. Then WOAH WHAT'S THAT? It doesn't sound right? Why? Because this is in a minor key baby. A new, higher part of the melody is introduced, giving you a sense of hope and easing you off of the surprise of a minor key, before bringing you back to the soft, sad, eerie minor melody. The piano builds and builds with a soft choir coming from behind until only the echoes of the piano are left. You want to relax into the melody, and yet that minor key keeps you on edge. It always feels like something is off, and yet it gives you no resolution. Then, it fades away into nothing. The whole thing feels so conflicted, it was so beautiful and yet so eerie. Such a hypnotizing combination. 10/10.
Kara Main Theme - The story of a lifetime told through music. Hardcore cello baseline starts you off, garunteed to give you chills. Pair it with the lovely little lullaby pattern and you have the exposition of this masterpiece. Cello + Piano is so classical and beautiful and it serenades my heart. Little bit of technical effects sprinkled on top makes it so unique and wonderful to listen to. The strings and piano and effects dance around the score beautifully, you fall in love with the melody, and it keeps building up and getting better. Then, just when you think it can't get any better, it does, and this dramatic CRESCENDO ENSUES. CHILLS ALL OVER. Then all of the sudden it's soft. So soft. You could drift into a gentle dream. Then BAM IT'S BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER. THEN bam it's back, soft, beautiful. You've just ridden the most beautiful emotional rollercoaster in the world. The melody dances one last time in its soft finale as you depart from the song. If any song can tell an emotional rollercoaster of a story, it's this one. Truly a masterpiece. 10/10.
Connor Main Theme - The biggest rollercoaster and adrenaline rush you'll ever experience. Starts off with- what is that, silence? No, listen closer. Ah, there it is. Musical foreshadowing. The deep robotic melody, echoing in your chest, warning you that it's coming. It slowly builds, robotic piece by mechanical piece, adding something new and interesting as it goes. Suddenly the strings come in with quiet vigor, as if they're holding back a vicious power. As soon as they appeared, they're gone again, and the techno melody takes over, stronger this time, as if it's growing. After all this build up, you expect more, and WOOSH it drops. It feels like silence, but it builds anyway as the muffled melody trucks on. Bits and pieces make appearances throughout, and you know you'll be seeing every part of it again soon. Sometimes it's slow, helping you feel at ease, sometimes it's fast, making you wonder what's about to come. Then the fast and slow combine into this incredible new melody, and it continues to build. When will it stop building? Who knows. All you know is the payoff will be breathtaking. Suddenly WOOSH the full orchestra kicks in and you know it's getting real. Stuff is about to go down. Then DROP it goes again. Another build up, where is it going? DROP. Silence. WOOSH the orchestra is back and better than ever. The climax is coming, you can feel it. It's glorious. You're basking in the glory. DROP. Everything is soft again. The eye of the storm. It's beautiful - but don't get too comfortable. The other side of the storm is brewing, coming at you. Are you ready? W O O S H. Silence. BOOM BABY HERE IT IS. THE INTENSITY OF THE MELODY. THE DRAMA OF THE DYNAMICS. IT'S INCREDIBLE. Oh what's that? K E Y C H A N G E. DO YOU FEEL LIKE A BEAST YET? BECAUSE YOU'RE A BEAST. WITH THIS MUSIC BLASTING BEHIND YOU, YOU COULD CONQUER THE UNIVERISE, AND YOU KNOW IT. EMBRACE IT, because soon it fades away. The euphoria is fading. The song takes its time looking at the blazing trail left behind as the melody comes back one last time. Soft, haunting, and beautiful, the melody can fade away now that the mission was accomplished. This song could motivate the world. It's almost too powerful. Be careful, if you listen to it too much, you might become unstoppable. All around incredible. 10/10.
In conclusion - A Holy Trinity of Perfection. The main themes fit each character perfectly, they are each so beautifully unique, they each give such strong emotions, they all provide a different experience when listening to them, and they are all absolutely fantastic. They're perfect. 10/10.
Kara main theme is super depressing and feels like a score like a movie. They really want to make movies I guess
